I wish return to office (for some, a first time in the office after years with a company!) could more easily be deemed constructive discharge.

I know there are people who never got the opportunity to work from home and will say to get over it. But people build their entire lives around working from home. Converting space in their home into a productive home office environment—and the expenditures to do so; establishing routines that align with working from home; selling their vehicle in lieu of riding a bicycle to all the conveniently located everyday places; getting a pet that has become accustomed to seeing you all hours of the day.

It’s so disruptive in so many ways when companies do this, and almost always with no reason for doing so except to fuck over employees.

Didn’t know about this feature. Very cool for anyone new who hasn’t curated communities yet!

Looks like you can see five of the communities, but yeah, being able to see a full list would be nice.

Well yes, the joke here is that they already talk so fast, who would notice a 25% bump in speed! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WTd7MEaN3Y

Is there a Gilmore Girls movie? Because if there’s a Gilmore Girls movie, then probably the Gilmore Girls movie.

Would really appreciate something in the post titles to indicate when it’s a video rather than a text article. Something like [video] appended.

https://adultswim.fan/ for adultswim and related programming.

This community is moving to adultswim.fan! The adultswim.fan server is an instance for Adult Swim programming, past and present, and many things animation. Come join us to share and talk about all things King of the Hill, including the launch of the Season 14 revival!

::: spoiler Wanna know more?

So why the move...

There are a few reasons, actually.

  1. Adult Swim was pivotal in keeping King of the Hill on the air after Fox canceled it. Many people watched the remaining four episodes--which were aired after the intended original series finale, "To Sirloin With Love"--on Adult Swim. Some viewers were even exposed to the Hills and the rest of the Rainey Street alley crew for the first time through Adult Swim. It's a place of refuge for many beloved animated series and a natural choice as the series enters its revival.
  2. The tone of the adultswim.fan instance fits with the KotH community. Adult Swim is usually regarded as a little bit subversive, and its programming is animation-forward.
  3. The community on adultswim.fan is more active. You'll probably find posts on a daily basis over there. It's the same dang ol' fun content, just a new home.

See you real soon!

Whatever happens, Peggy should be (re-?)reading her copy of A Dinner of Onions.

The actual teaser video here really catches me off guard. Hank pressing himself against the glass feels out of character. Peggy's suicide remark feels more harsh than it was probably meant to be. The animation style. I'm happy to get more of the Hills, but I can tell this is going to take some getting used to for me.

I definitely don't think they'd get away with killing off Luanne and Lucky. I think the sting of an orphaned Gracie would be a bit much. My own feelings are that Luanne and her family will be referenced as offscreen in phone calls, etc., where we get infrequent updates through Peggy or Bobby, and eventually the characters are seldom, if ever, mentioned again until the eventual revival finale.

Or maybe they'll recast them, who knows.

Minh and Kahn can be seeing arguing around the 0:05 timestamp. I wonder if this foreshadows the plot of the final planned episode of Season 14.

At the end of the original series, Ladybird was 13 years old—beyond the average life expectancy of a Georgia Bloodhound already. We don't see Ladybird in the revival opener. It's safe to assume she'll be long gone.

Do you think Hank and Peggy will adopt a new dog in the revival?

Toby Huss has been cast as the new voice actor for the character of Dale Gribble.

Huss voiced Kahn Souphanousinphone and Cotton Hill, as well as other characters, in over 160 episodes.

Huss voicing Kahn today (to say nothing of back in 2010) would almost certainly be problematic. And with Cotton having died in the original series, eliminating any of Huss's well known recurring characters, choosing him to stand in for Johnny Hardwick feels fitting. I think removing Dale entirely would have left a big gap in the alley, and this feels respectful enough.

Was anyone hoping they would have found a way to write Dale Gribble out of the show instead?

Deadline confirms that the King of the Hill revival will be released this summer on Hulu. The news was revealed as part of the announcement that the cast and crew of the fan-favorite animated show will reunite at the ATX TV Festival in May, including co-creators and executive producers Mike Judge and Greg Daniels, executive producer and showrunner Saladin K. Patterson, in addition to actors Pamela Adlon, Lauren Tom and Toby Huss. Their panel will include a discussion about the original series, as well as a sneak peek of the revival.

Sounds like some dang ol’ conflict between Bobby and Hank coming up!

Mike Judge most recently brought back Beavis and Butthead for a new series on Paramount+ that brought the two giggling hellraisers to the present day, but this isn't the only animated revival that Judge had in mind.

King of The Hill is planning to make a return thanks to Hulu, bringing back the Hill family for the first time since the series finale aired in 2010. In a recent surprising update, the voice of Bobby Hill, Pamela Adlon, revealed what Bobby Hill's status is in the upcoming series.

Earlier this year, Adlon had spoke with the outlet Variety on the status of the King of The Hill reboot, stating how special the revival feels and the loss of cast member Johnny Hardwick, "It feels really special and there's...a new generation of young writers who are writing the scripts and finding the sweet spot of the classic, the vintage King of the Hill and the new era. We're very blessed. It's hard because we lost Johnny Hardwick, and he had recorded like four episodes, and that feels really raw. But he's there with us. It feels like a family. It feels really good."

What is Bobby Hill Up To?

In a new interview, Pamela Adlon revealed some surprising facts about just what Bobby Hill is doing at age 21 in the upcoming revival, “We're in the second season [creating] the reboot, and Bobby is 21. He's a chef in a fusion restaurant in Dallas. And it's been incredible. It's just been really fun. I think it's been freakier for Mike and Greg to think about Bobby going from 12 to being 21 and having a relationship and being a person. But don't we all go through that with our kids and our friends' kids? It is shocking when I see my friends' kids and they're all grown up. And I'm like, 'Wait a second, what just happened?' So, it's just a little bit of a mess.”

The King of The Hill comeback has yet to share an official release date that will focus on this older Bobby and his family. Luckily, the series has been hinted at to arrive next year, 2025, so the arrival of the revival is on the horizon.

Came across this fun PSA from 2000 for the Will Rogers Institute. That King of the Hill movie looks way better than Flowers of Time, even without Charlton Heston or Ethan Hawke.

Wingo! A bright and prosperous dang ol' 2024 to all Arlenians, I tell you hwhat. Yep.
