It looks like twitter was down for 2.5h. [hn] Previously there was a fire in twitter server farm which caused some availability issues. Gee i wonder how well these gas turbines are serviced

well for one it looks like that wasn't one off and more of a pattern. i remember this one https://lemmy.world/post/25606000/15124978 and i've heard of this one https://lemmy.cafe/post/13433291/9941167 also in modlog you can see that that account was mass-banned from ml subs just five days ago so it's not some ancient incident
awful is great and i'm glad that it's a thing, but there's entire world beyond it, and to go there, i curate a shitlist (now less intensely than previously). this can tell you to avoid things like any pleroma instance, for example (and if it was up to me, i'd defederate by default from them)
lmao really all are equal on awful. ban in three replies for ai boosterism, but not for weird harassment or murder-suicide encouragement, which happened to that user after muchhh longer time elsewhere
Bad news for Trump’s Golden Dome: He can’t build it ~~without Canada~~

does awful have taglines enabled? this would be nice as one
ai can't generate anything that is not averaged dogshit made by grinding every political cartoon to pixels and compressing it to paste. it categorically can't generate caricatures, for example. it also shows a degree of creativity and familiarity with literature unlikely in average propmptfan. and also text is legible
you would need something silly like 50x more interceptors than ICBMs and SLBMs and these are more expensive and technically harder than either
The NMD program is limited in scope and designed to counter a relatively small ICBM attack from a less sophisticated adversary.
also ground-based interceptor is more expensive than ICBM, and you need one for each warhead and maybe also for decoys, and probably more than one to be reasonably sure. since everyone operates under MAD it doesn't matter if you destroy most probable adversary's nukes on the ground or in the air, so that's one of reasons why ICBMs are a thing, and then SLBMs as a second line. cue arms race. ABM are considered destabilizing and are limited by treaties
ai could never make this
it's not solved, it's just companies saying that they think it will be solved in the future
none of that shit works and won't work for a good minute, cryonics is rapture for nerds that take scifi way too seriously
what we already know tho is that because there's one payment to store meat popsicle effectively forever and this shit is ran by true believer techbros, it tends to run out of money pretty regularly. that means they run out of liquid nitrogen and meat popsicles thaw, and this already happened more than once
both of them are cryptobros
