@main @mastoblind @NVAccess do any of my fellow #NVDA #ScreenReader users know if the #Braille Extender add on is going to be updated to be compatible with NVDA 2026 and the shift to full 64b?

Ok so I cannot really explain what in particular failed, but Microsoft's Copilot Vision and #NVDA do not play nice. I wanted to see if it could give me real time descriptions of whatever was under my focus, which it did a decent job of. However, it repeatedly caused NVDA to just completely cease responding, while also seeming to go not responding itself, I had to wait a few minutes each time For input and speech to return. I was still receiving notifications from other apps and programs, but navigation attempts, the just pressing the windows key, did nothing until it recovered.

Reposting this since the groups went down, some Of this is available in #Braille, or in audio, on #BookShare and/ #NLSBard

@techsinger @main @NVAccess Tried the F6 ones and nothing, can never remember how object nav works, I tried both browse and focus modes without luck.

@techsinger @main @NVAccess Yeah shift+tab did not work, and ESC to exit the edit field asked to discard the draft.

[–] dhamlinmusic@dragonscave.space 1 points 4 months ago (5 children)

@techsinger @main @NVAccess ah see I did not even know those were hotkeys, the last time I used Outlook on PC I could see, and it was the old Mail app on Windows 10, so that would likely be the issue. Though I could not leave the edit field at all which was odd, like what if I needed to check the recipient info?

Ok so does anyone know why with #NVDA I cannot send an email in #Outlook? I hit reply, type the email, and cannot exit the edit area and find the send button. Latest release builds of Windows 11 pro, and Nvda 225. @main @mastoblind @NVAccess

As it is the start of the month I would like to invite my fellow #Blind, #DeafBlind, and #VisuallyImpaired people, along with their family, and friends, to #OurBlind. Ok I debated making this but it cannot hurt. I hope all my fellow #Blind, #DeafBlind, and #VisuallyImpaired people, along with their family, friends, and others have had a great time at the #ACB and/or #NFB 2025 conventions. I am taking this time, and the increased activity on certain hashtags to do some shameless promotion of #OurBlind. Ok so I am not sure if it's just a change with the #NVDA 2025 update or not, but my method of making sure my #BrailleDisplay wakes when I reconnect it, leaving focus on the system tray clock, has stopped working. The time will still be read when it updates but if the display has just reconnected it will not change off just reading "braille display", which as long as that's all that is being shown you cannot use the display to input anything. If anyone has thoughts of a setting or add-on that will make it so I can be sure the display will fully wake and accept input when reconnecting I'm all ears.

@main @mastoblind @NVAccess

Ok @main @mastoblind give me your suggestions for must have #NVDA add-ons. I operate my PC completely with a #BrailleDisplay over bluetooth, and have the Braille Extender, Resource Monitor, and Windows Essentials add-ons that I remember. If an add-on is not in the store please include a link.

@Boomkop3 Ah I was using it right up until I lost my sight in early 2020

Ok for my more up to date tech inclined #blind people, is CCleaner still a valid tool, is it #accessible, and does it work with #NVDA? @main @mastoblind

[–] dhamlinmusic@dragonscave.space 1 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

@main @mastoblind So I ended up using DragonsCave itself installed As a PWA with the advanced web interface enabled.

Edit: Turned the advanced web interface off as it made reading replies clunky.

@Kaliah @main @mastoblind Any idea why boosting is not going through? I boosted a few things and when I checked on my phone they were not.

[–] dhamlinmusic@dragonscave.space 1 points 7 months ago

@Kaliah @main @mastoblind With the display and braille extender the hotkeys do not work, and most of them still do not but I can arrow down my feed without it stopping on every mention, link, and button.

[–] dhamlinmusic@dragonscave.space 1 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago) (2 children)

@Kaliah @main @mastoblind Ok lol logged in, hotkeys did not work, realized I was in focus mode, had to look up how to get out of it with the display, realized most of my problems with the standard client were because of that…'

[–] dhamlinmusic@dragonscave.space 2 points 7 months ago (6 children)

@Kaliah @main @mastoblind Not at all, I would rather a Web App over installing software, I looked through the windows store before asking but the options were scarce.

[–] dhamlinmusic@dragonscave.space 2 points 7 months ago

@KaraLG84 @main @mastoblind ah ok, that's what I get for trusting search engines these days.

[–] dhamlinmusic@dragonscave.space 2 points 7 months ago (2 children)

@KaraLG84 @main @mastoblind That one I have looked at before and am not sure where you get it, it's a GitHub thing?

[–] dhamlinmusic@dragonscave.space 2 points 7 months ago (2 children)

@pixelate @main @mastoblind That did not allow other instances I thought.

Ok @main @mastoblind what do people use for their mastodon client on Windows with #NVDA? I have tried the web client but it's so so cluttered and there's no way to move through the feeds quickly. I'm on Dragonscave so I need something that will work with that.

@main @mastoblind Ok coming up on a month in and my #Beelink EQR6 #MiniPC has been great, best experience with a computer since I went #Blind. I have it set up as an always on headless device that I am operating with bluetooth headphones, my Bi40x #BrailleDisplay, and #NVDA.

As it is the start of the month I shall do some shameless promoting of https://ourblind.com/ for all the #blind, #deafblind, #lowvision, and #visuallyimpaired people around. @main @mastoblind
