Linux on mobile devices remains a niche effort in a world dominated by iOS and Android, but projects aiming to build a true alternative continue to move forward.

One of the newest of these is Marathon OS, a new mobile Linux system built around a Qt6-based Wayland compositor and a QML interface modeled directly on BlackBerry 10’s gesture navigation. The project inherits its core userspace from postmarketOS, which itself is built on Alpine Linux.

Thousands marched in support of Palestine in the Spanish city of Bilbao as Palestinian footballers played their first European match against the Basque Country team.

The Basque Country team beat the Palestine team 3-0 in the friendly match, which was marked by shows of solidarity between both teams.

Palestinians and the Basque have long shared political sympathies, with both involved in nationalist struggles for independence.

The two teams celebrated side by side, arms around each other, on the San Mames pitch in front of more than 50,000 spectators.

"It's difficult to coach when your mother lives in a makeshift tent. I come from Gaza," Palestinian coach Ehab Abu Jazar told AFP.

Colossal Order and Paradox Interactive have ended their partnership on Cities: Skylines, with it moving onto a new developer.

The announcement posted on the Paradox forum notes they've "mutually decided to pursue independent paths "with the decision being made "thoughtfully and in the interest of both teams - ensuring the strongest possible future for the Cities: Skylines franchise". So now further development of the Cities franchise will move to Iceflake Studios, who Paradox acquired back in 2020. Iceflake will be taking over all existing and future development of Cities: Skylines II so that players "will be able to look forward to new updates and content drops for many years".

I got this sweet SGI o2, but it didn't come with a password. Thankfully, it's comically easy to break into IRIX. Let's try!

Systemd today finally merged support for building against and using the musl libc library. This is a win for Linux distributions like postmarketOS, Alpine Linux, and others that use musl by default as their standard C library or offer it as an option.

Since September has been a pull request for experimental support for building systemd with musl libc. This requires a new version of musl with a recent patch, which has been backported to some distributions like Alpine Linux and postmarketOS, in order to use musl as an alternative to glibc.
