For f*&% sake, I'm using JPEG XL on my website for some high res images that are amazingly well compressed using it, and especially to reduce the repository size on Codeberg. Only now discovered that only my niche main browser, Zen, renders them. What a stupid decision; their compression of high quality images is superior. Perfect to use alongside AVIF which does better in low quality images and illustrations and the like, or PNG which is best at preserving images containing text such as screenshots.

Exactly what I Iearned by working in a scientific institute for 3 years. Before that I put scientists on a pedestal and wanted to be one. Now, not anymore. They are as flawed and morally mediocre as most of the general populace.

All crypto"currencies" are greed-inducing society-eroding pyramid schemes.

Get out this Crypto Cult Science.

A powerful essay on why capitalism must end.
TL;DR: the increasing wealth inequality which mainly originates in past slavery is still the continuation thereof, even though that form of public slavery has now "ended".

Ah, well, good thing your feeling is more important than any potential source of actual data.

That's not at all what it says; sarcasm is uncalled for.

I feel like ⅒ is a gross overestimation and regular search engines should consume at least 100 times less than GPTs.

Screw marketing.

As luck would have it, Brutal Sphincter is unironically my favourite goregrind band.

Also doesn't deserve Twitter, now known as a letter owned by a Gestapo enthusiast. Tartigrade defecation under microscope.

Popularity ≠ superiority. Proprietary text document formats is yet another proof of Microsoft's crookedness—their subpar products only able to stay afloat by unethical anti-competitive behaviour.

Pump-and-dump schemes, fraud, ransomware, multi-level marketing, spam, incentivizing selfishness, greed, and general unethical behaviour, buying elections, quasi Nazis creating their own coins, et cetera. In my opinion, over the years the evidence has piled up tall enough to show that crypto"currencies" are an overal detriment to society.

It therefore surprised me to discover that behind the ♡ donation button on top of most Lemmy instances except for Beehaw, there is an option to donate "crypto". This sets a bad example. Thoughts?

Your games on Linux might unknowingly run slower than they need to. My games had inconsistent FPS between different sessions—smooth 144 FPS between stuttering ± 120 FPS—and I couldn't figure out why because all the logs indicated it was running on my dedicated GPU.

First I assumed it was a caching problem due to running distributed computing projects 24/7 [finding primes, not crypto"currencies", don't worry], but it turns out it was in fact arbitrarily using the desktop CPU's integrated graphics instead of the GPU.

Via the Steam game launch options command below one can force the use of one's dedicated GPU—0 or 1 depending on one's PC.

I'm looking for a song video clip which features a very close up shot of female lips. At a certain point it becomes sexual without being explicit, and it is suggested that the woman bit off a mans penis.
