It's great! To me this shows it is calculating much more than chatgpt4 which is almost instantaneous and was way slower in the past (before it was nerfed).

I'm talking about claude on console.anthropic.com rather than claude.ai.

Had no idea where it was going. Wasn't disappointed.

One concern would be:

  1. Say Lemmy/kbin grows organically to 1 million users.
  2. Threads federates, with 100 million users

Do you want these users flooding Lemmy? I don't want to be biased at the theoretical type of user on Threads, though if the right wingers/trolls/extremists migrate to Threads because they think it's "more open" then that may be an issue. If it's full of soccer moms posting pictures of their kids, or karens complaining about everything, that may be an issue.

Multiculturalism is great, I want to hear new ideas, though some areas are breeding grounds for lower-think, it seems. This probably sounds prejudiced or elitist.

I want to talk to the vanguard people who take the risk and are openminded and come to lemmy, not necessarily the "lemmings" who join facebook because they love facebook and don't want to, or can't, delve deeper into why facebook is one of the worst forces in media at the moment.

I am not prejudiced (I hope) against "regular people" and "soccer moms", though think that if 10 million soccer moms came here, the discussions may not be as... interesting, as they are.

Also, I don't know what lemmy instances will think about downloading masses of data from threads.

Many of us do not trust Facebook and anything it is associated with or swallows up.

EDIT:

https://techcrunch.com/2023/07/05/adam-mosseri-says-metas-threads-app-wont-have-activitypub-support-at-launch/

"Instagram head Adam Mosseri said "

““Soon, you’ll be able to follow and interact with people on other fediverse platforms, such as Mastodon. They can also find people on Threads using full usernames, such as @mosseri@threads.net.””

“We’re committed to building support for ActivityPub, the protocol behind Mastodon, into this app. We weren’t able to finish it for launch given a number of complications that come along with a decentralized network, but it’s coming,” he said.

“If you’re wondering why this matters, here’s a reason: you may one day end up leaving Threads, or, hopefully not, end up de-platformed. If that ever happens, you should be able to take your audience with you to another server. Being open can enable that.”

Aspartame is also linked in some studies to weight gain, GI disorders, mental health issues and more:

According to some studies, aspartame and other artificial sweeteners can lead to weight gain instead of weight loss 12. Aspartame has been linked to increased appetite, diabetes, metabolic derangement and obesity-related diseases 2.

One study showed that aspartame causes greater weight gain than a diet with the same calorie intake but no aspartame 1. Another study found that even acceptable daily intakes of aspartame might make you hungrier and lead to weight gain 3.

...some research suggests an association between aspartame intake and metabolic damage to the central nervous system (CNS), such as changes in enzyme and neurotransmitter activities 2. Aspartame acts as a chemical stressor by elevating plasma cortisol levels and causing the production of excess free radicals. High cortisol levels and excess free radicals may increase the brain’s vulnerability to oxidative stress which may have adverse effects on neurobehavioral health 3.

There is also some evidence that high-aspartame consumption may lead to weaker spatial orientation, irritability, depression, and other neurobehavioral conditions 14. However, these studies are limited in scope and further research is needed to determine the long-term effects of aspartame on human health.

Worth researching more, especially if you eat/drink anything with this stuff - and it's in a lot of food products.

I've read Playground (that uses the API) is "better" than chatgpt4.

Does anyone know if you can access the internet using it?

It's pretty good.

Try the prompt:

"you will be my personal SPANISH tutor, as you are an expert in the SPANISH language and as a teacher. Ask me questions SPANISH and let me answer and then you will check how accurate they are, correct my mistakes and translate, and continue to ask me questions, improving my SPANISH grammar and vocabulary, whilst learning how I converse to cater to my learning style."

I find this an excellent book by the late ex-neuroscientist and meditation adept, that illustrates how the mind works and distils the core of Buddhist meditation into easy to follow steps - the medtiation practice, as always, is the challenge to progress.

I have some The Mind Illuminated guided meditation audio files created by a meditation teacher if anyone is interested.

Has anyone used the book?

I was becoming very frustrated with the slow speed (often over 1.5 - 2 min) of ChatGPT4 w/ browser, so decided to test it against it's competitors including some times until the response is completed (though onenote crashed and I lost most of the timing data).

  1. ChatGPT4 with browser - usually takes 1.5-2 min
  2. ChaGPT4 with [Web Requests] plugin around 1:30 to 5 min
  3. ChaGPT4 with [WebPilot] plugin 0:50 to :130
  4. ChaGPT4 with [Access Link] plugin - around 50 sec
  5. Bing Creative - around 40 seconds
  6. Bard - 5-7 seconds

These are screenshots of a table on a 4k monitor, so if the type is small, try downloading the images and zooming in. Tried exporting to PDF but the results were broken PDFs.

The chatgpt4 browser and it's web plugins often failed to give results or broke and sometimes gave decent results.

Which would you use?

THis is the primary way I access AI bots - you give a query to whichever AI engines you want and see the results come simultaneously so you can compare.

To access ChatGPT-4 (and a few of the others) you need to use your login.

BTW I find Claude is as good, if not better, than ChatGPT-4 often.
