This will be useful if you are trying to let multiple people share your computer remotely. If you are trying to set up personal game streaming for one client at a time, try Moonlight and Sunshine (more mature, easier to setup, works on any hardware).

I want to try to set up a Raspberry Pi I have as a smart TV box and I was hoping I could find some advice.

My main requirements are:

  • can run Moonlight
  • can be controlled from a Bluetooth game controller (that should also work in Moonlight)

What would be nice:

  • can run VLC or Plex or something
  • can support AirPlay
  • can be used for some actual streaming services like Netflix

Any suggestions?

How are Apple’s AirPods not “in ear canal things”?

While everything else everyone said is true, to some extent there has been code leaked or decompiled of internal iOS libraries. That code is sometimes used in things like jailbreaking iPhones or making jailbroken-only apps.

If by “adversary” you mean a hacker, secure software should remain secure even if your adversary has your full source code.

These aren’t rare in the sense that everybody has one they keep as a collectible. If I went down to 7/11 and tried to buy something with it they’d give me a funny look.

TLDR Signal made a decision that has different tradeoffs and is waiting for the tech to improve before taking the step Apple did.

All of these updates are extremely cutting edge and PQC tech is not matured, so both Signal and Apple implementing it now is mostly a marketing move.

In Apple’s press release, they mention they use a combination of the new PQC “Kyber Crystals” algorithm and the existing standard “ECDSA” algorithm. This is because Kyber is is too new and hasn’t stood the test of time yet. Apple doesn’t want to trust it fully because someone could come discover a vulnerability.

Even if it is motivated by marketing, it’s good that these companies are competing in this space because it drives the tech forward, and it’s good that they are working on including PQC now even though the tech is immature, because the goal is to protect against attacks involving storing encrypted data now and decrypting it later once quantum computers are more mature.
