I learnt about Aadhaar here about a month ago and was appalled at this technological nightmare, which (of course!) fucks over the poor and disadvantaged the most, with shit like "you cannot get an Aadhaar because you don't have one". I didn't realize that this abomination could be cranked up to eleven too!
My suspicion is that this will lead to an "official" india and a "inofficial" one, with the inofficial part being ruled by gangs and crime syndicates with all the bullshit that comes with that. (if it isnt that way currently, i don't know too much about it)
I started out on .world; then i found dbzer0.com, which aligns a lot more with my values (i personally am a socialist who also likes the idea of communism, but in the end i am simply against concentration of power and exploitation), and then i switched over to anarchist.nexus so i could use piefed instead of lemmy itself; the last move was a consequence of the lemmy devs being shitheads, even if they create good software. I still use the dbzer0 account while on my phone, tho.
yeah, i can only offer my perspective, which is austrian - and it seems that those discussions were kept away from my surroundings; in our politics right-wing politicians surrounding the FPÖ were the only ones who criticized jews in a public way, and they did it because they are literally populist antisemites, rising from what the denazification didn't eradicate. I myself became aware of the apartheid only a few years back, and like i said, i wasn't so sure if it wasn't facebook-style propaganda.
I think a lot of that has to do with fear of criticizing israel because for decades, the only ones who did so were neonazis; if someone ranted a few years back about Israel or "the jews", you could be 99% sure about their political orientation. It takes time to overcome that, especially if you don't reexamine your take on political issues on the regular, what few people do. Hell, it took time for me to overcome that and i really try to inspect issues from all sides before deciding my stance of things.
Having said that, there aren't any excuses anymore. even if you thought in the beginning that it was all lies and antisemitism, the overwhelming mountain of evidence of the IDFs behaviour cant be refuted anymore unless you have an agenda.

I worked in costumer service for many years and was yelled at a lot, just like you. You know what my therapist said?
He said (paraphrased): "I can't understand how these people dare treat another human being like that. Your anger about what happened is completely justified. Lets work on what we can do to improve your situation."
We talked a lot about how to distance yourself from the situation while it happens, to not be afraid to tell people to stop yelling if that doesn't work, rationalizing fears related to job loss, healthy ways to express aggression to vent without hurting yourself. That's what a therapist should do, not tell you to grow a thicker hide (that is what will kill you in the long run if you are so detached from your feelings that you get completely overwhelmed if that fails even once).
I agree with @sugar_in_your_tea@sh.itjust.works that in the long run UBI will be needed to help with that - the way it goes currently means sooner or later there will be more people without jobs than with jobs, and if we don't want the guillotines to come up (we are well on the way to that, since it becomes more and more mainstream to openly talk about stuff like that), it will be necessary to ensure a worthwhile life for the people who are not needed in classic jobs to create value, so they can create whatever they want without fear.
That's more attributable to the aggressive fuckwits who tend to those dog races when they get a dog, not to the dog races by themselves. If you get yourself a pitbull and treat and train him to be a little princess who likes cuddles, you will get a little princess who likes cuddles. Aggressive dogs are 95% owner, 5% dog if we talk about pets and not feral dogs.
I learnt most in school (in austria tho, american schools have been defunded so hard its a miracle the US hasn't fallen into pieces ... yet), if i had to pin it down mostly in language classes (German, English) because of the literature i was exposed to and the discussions we had about current events, philosophy because its philosophy and art classes because of the teacher and interpretations of art pieces in context of the time they were created. Also my biology teacher who taught us to keep an open mind and a lot about the scientific method.
The important part were the teachers, who didn't just let us memorize stuff, but encouraged us to ask questions.
