" The Winter Olympics start Friday.

Sweden has a mentally ill MAN named Elis Lundholm who thinks he's a woman competing in moguls.

Hope he loses. "

Well, at least in all their hate and stupidity they managed to not misgender him, so I guess it's a win? ...

Human !== Humane

And given how the models are trained, they will always sound happy to talk, patient, understanding. A machine will not have a rough morning, or feel emotional (currently they are incapable of feeling emotions at all), so they will always reproduce similar behaviour.

On the other side you have humans that are actively suppressing their empathy when it goes against the mandate of their job (I do not know how it is in China, but where I live doctors are expected to sound professional, authoritative, and as a result detached).

It's not hard to imagine that a person in a weakened state will prefer speaking with a condescending and appeasing robot, than a cold and detached person.

And on a tangent, it's why LLMs are so effective and so used, because they are made specifically to cater to humans needs for acceptance and approval... Given the massive rise of cases like the one in the article, it's due time to finally start analysing and improving how we treat human interactions in our society, especially in delicate situations like patient care (but everywhere really). You cannot delegate human interaction to a machine, because you need humans to behave like machines to keep your society going....

Interesting read, that finishes with some harsh and sad truths

"President Putin and the Russian government have been adept in conducting an aggressive disinformation campaign that has convinced some policymakers, including in Washington, that Russian victory is inevitable, despite substantial evidence to the contrary. Russia boosted its funding for state-run media in 2026 by roughly 54 percent, indicating a commitment to intensified information warfare.59 The Kremlin’s propaganda machine is designed to sustain domestic support for the regime and its war against Ukraine, as well as to convince key foreign audiences that the war has been successful and needs to continue."

and

"Despite Russian challenges, the great irony is that the United States and Europe have failed to fully wield the economic or military cudgels. Without greater pain, Putin will drag the talks out and keep fighting—even if it means millions of Russian and Ukrainian casualties."

Porn, advertising, entertainment. The first one seems to be mostly ignored for now by western model training companies (though it must be difficult to do when your paying processor can destroy your business overnight). For the other two, I doubt the market is so small that it can be ignored.

Prepare in a few years (months?) to see movies advertised as no AI (like they are now advertised as no CGI, as ridiculous as it is).
