I appreciate you clarifying. I didn't realize you were the developer. You reminded me the importance of verifying information before posting about it.

I was just repeating what I've heard elsewhere. It does appear that the included blocklists can be edited. I have mixed feelings about labeling certain websites.

i'm new to my instance that isn't defederated from anything and I see an awful lot of whining about .ml hexbear and lemmygrad but i haven't seen the users do anything. i'm more annoyed by the whiners so far.

I would say thats a good thing, wouldnt you?

Yes, that's why I simply reminded folks that they are a business and not your friend. So many people jumping to Valve's defense over a perceived slight makes me feel the reminder is necessary.

I prefer Lemmy.~~because unlike Piefed there are no hardcoded instance or user blocks.~~ Although, you do have to find a lemmy instance that isn't defederated. I like being able to see a multitude of opinions and manually block people/communities that I feel don't contribute to discussion.

Edit: The blocklists can be edited by the instance admin. As far as I can tell the user blocks I was confusing with Tesseract. Apologies to the piefed devs for spreading bad information.

when did i say never buy anything from valve?

[–] StankStain@lemmy.today 4 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

that's why i said friendly reminder and not "boycott valve"

friendly reminder that valve is not your friend. they operate the way they do because that's their business strategy to make the most money long term.
