Isn’t the UI very similar or am I missing something? I didn’t see any major differences when initially comparing them except PieFed having some more features like reactions and cross post comment loading (which I don’t think is a thing in Lemmy?). I have mostly used PieFed since then though.

Don’t think crypto is the solution to replacing payment processors. The distributed networks is going to have enormous difficulty scaling to even a fraction of the number of card payments processed each day.

It was 3 day site wide bans as I understood it. Reason given was that saying that Greenland should defend itself was "threatening violence".

The thread in question, thing it is in r/Sweden https://www.reddit.com/r/sweden/s/BvEiqSM2cf

I saw it in a post about people getting temp bans for simply stating that EU allies would be right to defend Greenland in case of military action. Might just have been one of several grievances with Reddit at the moment though

You say that as if we have a choice

I’m not sure what you mean, are you trying to imply that the EU at the current state is not dependent on US technology? Because I think that is simply not true at all. In general the US is massively ahead on tech (and not just AI) and a lot of EU companies has made themselves dependent on especially US cloud providers. I have worked on finding EU alternatives and while there are products that can work it’s usually clear that it’s somewhat behind and you’re playing catch up.

It’s interesting to hear that there are at least some cases of the US also being dependent on EU technologies.

Edit: Im not saying that it’s impossible or that we shouldn’t reduce our reliance on US techs and cloud products. Just that it’s delusional to pretend we aren’t behind.

The collective Arch username has already encountered every single possible problem so of course their wiki is excellent

You could try a Wordpress static generator extension like SimplyStatic. Then you’d be able to export your existing site to static files but it might not work properly with some extensions.

The headline makes it sound like they have access to all you call, but the text make it sound like it’s just the WhatsApp calls history and contacts and that’s… obvious?

If they actually have access to message that and it is t end-2-end encrypted at all is on a whole different level.
