I'll start to sing the original theme song if I want to torment my adult aged sons....

Came here to post this. But it's not the White Album (so called; it had no title) but rather Yesterday and Today . It's known as the "butcher cover," and the only printed a couple thousand of them.

Early Gen X here. I think there is something about having at some point to figure things out for yourself. Even if you don't need to do that anymore, you have experienced the process of finding out for yourself (e.g., configuring TCP/IP the first time).

I think there is value in experiencing the process at least a little bit.

My eldest son shares your views entirely.

I bought Spore for my kids when it came out but wound up playing it far more than them!

Spode demanding tribute to their religion again? Oh no! I destroyed all your cities and turned your planet into a nature preserve so you can never come back.

That looks really good and will scratch the ancient Starcraft itch. Thanks!

I have far too much experience with grieving personally. But, because of that, I can say people are giving you great advice OP. These are considered and thoughtful responses in this thread. Sometimes humans can be good to each other online.

Thank you. I have noticed this for years but never understood why.

Late to the party, but for me Endless Sky: https://github.com/endless-sky

As far as I know, it's the only open source and crowed developed game out there.

If you remember EV series, it's basically that. But better and under constant development.
