I'm thinking that no, it doesn't. Which begs the question of why we do it? Is it a psychological thing?

Lots of talk across season one about the opening credits. How do we feel about them?

Personally, I'm a big fan of them using the iconic music, and I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot barge pole.

The actual visuals? Utterly perplexing to me, and I say that as someone who's familiar with the source material. I understand what they were going for but I think everything is a bit hard to parse.

It's been a fun four years since I last had to have these around the house....but alas it's time to bring the potty out once more.

Hopefully he takes to it as well as his sister. I am not confident.

For example, switching out the word 'boot' for 'trunk', or ditching the word 'rubbish' for 'garbage'.

This is something I've noticed my 6 year old does pretty regularly. We went through a stage where 'sweets' became 'candy', 'holiday' became 'vacation' and 'courgette' became 'zucchini'.

That last one didn't happen but if you're still reading you've got my respect, or as the Americans might say '...mad props'.

Morning all. It's Monday morning which can mean but one thing....What have you been playing this last week?

This is something I've always struggled with and I think it's put my daughter in a spot where she's very reluctant to do anything by herself.

Don't get me wrong, she plays well with others and her younger brother, but when he's not available she basically just wants to play with me rather than going off on her own and playing by herself.

Now I don't mind, but I wouldn't mind a bit of...not playing time but also I'm worried it's going to affect her going down the line.

Thoughts?

It was all good until I told my partner that she absolutely gets it from her. That did not go well for me 😬😬

It's happening. My eldest is six. And I've noticed that when it comes to being a stubborn git, she's definitely more her Mum than she is me.

She'll refuse to do the most benign things. Getting dressed and brushing her teeth is an absolute battle. Trying to get her to eat anything that's not a ketchup covered fish finger? An Impossibility. She's her Mum. Classic 'cutting off her nose to spite her face' sort of stuff.

Ay ay ay.

How has your week been? How are the kids? What's going on and what have you got planned?

Welcome to Saturday Moanings, your safe place to vent, moan and otherwise just....have a good whine about the world, your household and everything in between.

Finally. I have absolutely no idea who these guys are, but it's nice to be able to visualise them in the roles at least.

How are we feeling about this?

The game won't have a performance/quality mode at launch, but you will be allowed to tweak a little if you're playing on PC.

Now obviously it's not the worst thing in the world, and I'm sure many will be perfectly fine playing at 30, but I can't help but be disappointed by this news.

On a personal level I'll always go with the framerate over graphical fidelity; oftentimes the differences between the visuals in a quality mode just don't justify the loss of that smooth 60FPS, although I'm willing to grant that mileage may vary on that one.

I understand the constant want to improve visuals. They go a long way towards selling a game to it's audience, but I wish we'd gotten to a point where you could 1) have a conversation about the importance of FPS without appearing like a snob and 2) allow devs to prioritize 60FPS over graphical fidelity.

So yeah???

What an.... interesting list. What are we thinking?

Personally I'm stunned Lara Croft made the top five and Agent 47 seems like an odd choice. Small sample size?

**The full list: **

  2. Mario, Super Mario

  3. Agent 47, Hitman

  4. Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog

  5. Sackboy, LittleBigPlanet

Which makes me wonder. Dad's of Lemmy...what's the worst advice you've ever received about parenting?

Might also explain why Cricket is so popular. Obviously it still requires a fair amount of physical exertion but it's definitely a bit more laid back than something like Rugby.

I think mine is probably Rocket League. I've been playing it since day one back in 2014. Multiple console generations and platforms, thousands of hours playing solo and with my brothers. It's been nearly ten years and I'm still putting in 3-4 hours a week, every week.

Another example, although less painful for the eyes.

Using Boost for Lemmy as the example here.

Since release Sync just hasn't been able to handle tables. Every other app I use does it no problem, but sync really struggles with it.

This is how I ended up with a 2 foot tall Bill Clinton puppet, but yes I agree.

Lovely find, gorgeous box.

I'm with you, I don't think he finishes the main series, but (and this is where I think we differ) I've found so much joy and interest in the rest of the world, the stories and even the lore around all of it that i can't consider it a waste of time.

I absolutely love YouTube deel-dives about the characters and the world, I've spent hours looking over the maps and even more time reading Martin's work in the form of Fire and Blood, AKOTSK and the larger reference type books that have come out since Winds was released.

I'm re-reading the main series right now, and whilst I'm fairly confident there's no pay off I find being in that world, and reading those words to be gift enough to continue with it.

My biggest issue with Lemmy so far is that it feels like we've got an awful lot of lurkers, and whilst that's fine I do struggle with the idea that the place lacks content, whilst also having a relatively quiet userbase.

It puts a lot of strain on a few people to bring the content. If those people don't bring it, it can be pretty quiet, especially on the smaller communities.

How does that work if you're already over the 2 hours of playtime?

[–] Oneeightnine@feddit.uk 1 points 2 years ago

No one has any idea what they're doing.

I'm 35. I've got two kids. I make it up as I go along. There's no plan, no blueprint. There's just the day to day crap that life has for us all. I wake up, I go to work and my only real aim is to get home to my kids and partner.

Came here for this comment.

Superhot is an absolute incredible videogame and I'm kind of stunned we've not seen more in that style.
