What does having an “M” on your healthcare mean??

If you choose to travel to another country, it’s on you to vaccinate.

I never used to get the flu shot, either. My older brother contracted Influenza A, and it was BAD. I get my flu shot now, every year.

Where are you in Canada where you aren’t getting free vaccines???

I’m in BC. I just got a Covid and Flu shot last week free of charge. My grandchildren are getting all vaccines free.

TORONTO — Canada is poised to lose its international status as a measles-free country now that an outbreak that began in New Brunswick and spread to other provinces has hit the one-year mark.

The country eliminated measles in 1998 and maintained that status for more than 25 years, meaning there was no ongoing community transmission and new cases were travel-related.

But since Oct. 27, 2024, the virus has spread to more than 5,000 people in Canada, including two infants in Ontario and Alberta who were infected with measles in the womb and died after they were born.

Public health and infectious disease experts attribute the return of measles to declining vaccination rates, stemming from misinformation-fuelled vaccine hesitancy and distrust of science, as well as the disruption of routine immunizations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

I contracted measles in grade one, shortly before I was to receive the scheduled vaccine. Despite being healthy, I became really ill. It was the only time my mother called a doctor (house calls back then). It’s really sad that Canada was a measles-free country—and now we’re not. Misinformation, lack of education.

Agreed. The majority of people seem to have a problem with giving up convenience. Case in point: I fought against and posted against “self check out”. People lose jobs. EI, CPP, and taxes are lost when we choose the self check-out. And yet, we keep doing it. Stores purposely have less tellers so people will get fed up and move to the self check out. If everyone REFUSED to use self check out, they would go away. People aren’t willing to take a stand. Sad. I still refuse to use self check out,

Dumbing down the population. Remove critical thinking. Reinstate the harshest of religious beliefs. Feudalism.

The reason older condos/townhouses sell is because they were built when there were inspectors actually doing their jobs. Step-daughter moved into a new teeny-tiny condo, and shower door fell off after 4 months. Gaps developing in the “luxury” vinyl plank flooring. Cupboard doors coming off because screws aren’t long enough. They’re garbage homes.

OK, while I support Sara Kishawi’s support of Palistine, I do not support her tactics. This is Canada. We have rules to which you need to adhere. If you don’t want to follow Canada’s rules, oh well.

One incident involved VIU staff wanting to close a rooftop patio on campus. Staff say Kishawi refused to leave and refused to provide her ID.

In the second incident, the university learned Kishawi had accessed the rooftop of a university building, endangering her own safety.

In the third, she was one of more than a dozen students involved in a sit-in, occupying building 255, and disrupting the learning environment. Kishawi recorded the incident.

And the fourth, she entered a restricted area of the library that was left open and wrote a slogan on a wall with a marker and put up some signs, one referencing a worker as racist.
