I thought it wouldn't happen again, but NOPE, I got hit with that stupid data corrupted error AGAIN! It's pissing me off and I'm tired of it happening to me. The integrity of Perchance is so low, data corruption/loss happens WAY TOO EASILY! It's time I move onto other sites/apps like Character.AI or Sekai. I'm not saying I'll completely stop using Perchance.org services, but the AI Character Chat at this rate is completely unusable for me because of this data corruption issue that the dev seems to be overlooking.

Bye bye ACC. Used to have fun times but I can't do this anymore.

Unfortunately the majority of AI image generators are either filled with paywalls or won't let you generate NSFW content. I personally don't have any issues with generation, but that's probably because I run an adblocker 24/7.

I've used both of them before for general writing instructions, but both of them seem to be the same thing. Are there any actual differences anyone has ever noticed?

Hi! A bit of an update to my situation. I made the hard choice of erasing all my data since my characters and everything became basically unrecoverable. Fortunately, I did have most of my characters saved on a Google Doc and I recreated a few of the ones I already had on an incognito tab and I'm going to import them over and start fresh. Not how I wanted this to go, but I had no choice :(

Okay so I was trying to get onto AI Character Chat but for some reason I get hit with this error that I've never seen before

Uncaught [object Object] UnknownError Failed to read large IndexedDB value

Unknown Error: Failed to read large IndexedDB value

stack: undefined

line: 0

I have no idea what this means and I don't know what I did to cause this. For those of you who are telling me to just export my data and delete everything, thing is. I already tried importing my data. But then it starts saying stuff about there being characters that "don't exist" and lists a bunch of threads with "nonexistent characters".

This is stressing me out because I fear I might lose ALL of my characters and chats and everything because of this. Is there any way to resolve this or do I have to start all over?

What about getting the AI to only speak in a specific way in dialog?

For example, I have a character that is from Fire Emblem Awakening, his name is Gregor. and a key part of his personality is that he speaks from the third person and speaks with a Russian accent.

The thing is, I only want the AI to use the "third person speaking" for speech only, I even specified it in the AI reminder note, but for some reason, the character ALSO speaks in the third person in actions as well, even though I only want him to use the third person speaking in speech only.

This is an example (taken directly from one of my chats with the character involved)

AI: Gregor laughs big belly laugh at fisher-man clutching fish like baby! "Ah, but friend Rexy—Gregor thinks fish is smelling... strange? Like old calcaires in cave, nyet? Maybe Robin-man right about study. Gregor once saw fish with three eyes near Plegia border—tasted like regret and made Gregor's cousin glow purple! Not good eating!"

Is there a way to get the AI to only speak in the third person and with the Russian accent in dialog only and not actions?

I just checked it out and it turns out that they changed the function of the buttons.

[–] Garth01@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Idk, maybe try typing into the character's description?

I'm just wondering if just letting the AI create everything for you is more convenient because I've heard online that AI code can be unreliable at times and sometimes just not work at all. I don't know if this thing probably can create sophisticated ahh generators or not or if it's just an assistant/tool. What are your thoughts?

OP already mentioned that they knew there were some updates. No offense but you're the type to say "water is wet" as a fun fact.

Is there a way to create a new character on the AI Character Chat without it creating a new thread for the character in question?

That's very rude of you.

Okay, so I'm aware that everyone so far has just been talking nonstop about the new model and other stuff, but I want to bring this incident into light.

Alright, so I was on a generator called AI Furry Generator, here's a link btw: https://perchance.org/ai-furry-generator. I decided to participate in the chat section. It was going fine, talking with the moderators (who seemed to be dating or something, I don't know). That was until some bad actor joined who copied my name and the moderators automatically assumed it was me trolling, even though it wasn't. Despite my pleas of innocence, they banned me anyways without even giving me a chance to plead my case.

I'm not sure if there is a way to get into communication with these moderators besides through the chat because anything I say there is invisible (because I'm banned). Again, I was COMPLETELY innocent, but they banned me without even giving me a chance to explain anything. I wish people would actually use common sense because those moderators didn't have any.

This is exactly why I've never touched a single Perchance comment section/chat section ever again, for I fear that someone else will do the same thing, copying my name and pretending to be me and getting me banned for "trolling" when it wasn't even me to begin with.

Oh, I see. I mainly generate human images nowadays since I don't like the direction of how the furry art went. Try putting "adult" in the prompt and remove any mentions of numerical age (e.g 20s).

[–] Garth01@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (6 children)

I dunno what you're putting in the prompt. Could you perhaps provide example prompts? For example, I put this as the prompt:

Adult girl, brown hair, blue eyes

And what do you know, it generates photos of adult girls with brown hair and blue eyes. No underage content whatsoever. I don't know why you're specifically getting underage content unless you're putting in specific stuff. It may be an issue on your end, because for me, it works just fine.

You could have said "Users of Perchance do not have the right to complain". I believe that would be a better way to have worded it rather than saying "You have no rights" as you are implying that ALL people besides Perchance users have no rights. Context doesn't matter, implication does.

[–] Garth01@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Because it literally says "You have no rights" so you're implying that no one has rights.

The title of this post is so out of pocket bro💀

Okay, so I've seen lots of complaints about the new AI chat model, how it's gotten worse or better. I don't think it's terrible. I've made characters based on fictional characters from games (like Sonic the Hedgehog and Fire Emblem). It used to not be able to portray the characters properly. Now, it portrays them perfectly, as if they were actually acting like the characters they're supposed to be.

Then, there's the cons.

I have seen a few instances where characters completely repeat what they said earlier in a previous message, thus forcing me to refresh the message to get a fresh response. Sometimes, I need to refresh it multiple times because they just say the same thing but it's wrote differently.

Then the characters completely break immersion by saying stuff directly from their description or by saying stuff like "BREAK_BAD_PATTERNS". They also sometimes try to generate images for no reason at all (I edit the image generation prompts out of the AI's messages so it's not an issue).

I'm not saying the new model is terrible. But it's not good either. The AI model needs to learn more. It needs to learn not to break immersion, mainly. I'm tired of having to refresh or edit messages because the AI keeps breaking character and immersion. If there is a way to stop this from happening, I'd appreciate any suggestions.

The new model right now? I'd give it an 8.9/10. Still needs work.
