For a comment it's a lot yea, especially since the thread was still pretty new. It was the top comment in that thread by a large margin.

I don't see any Fediverse platforms on there, how would you feel about adding them? Seems like they'd fit.

Could add Lemmy, Mastodon, MBin, PieFed, PixelFed, Loops, PeerTube, NodeBB...

This link doesn't work. There's only 3 communities for patientgamers: world, shitjustworks, and ml

I've noticed that people forgot how long ago the Reddit blackout was (about 19 months ago?), and Lemmy has improved a lot since then. Back then Lemmy was like pre-alpha, super buggy, and servers were very unstable. And we have way more 3rd party apps/frontends now.

Was reading through the thread and holy shit I swear half the comments are anti fediverse propaganda.

Some comments are suspiciously skeptical. If they were this skeptical before joining then they never would've joined Reddit lol. Someone just tried to tell me that the report button on Lemmy doesn't do anything.

And people talking about bots too lol Reddit will literally repost a 1 year old post with identical title and copy-paste the top 100 comments from the original too, talk about bots! And they aren't labeled as bots! At least bots here are labeled and you can hide them all instantly.

And then they ask for extreme details on how everything works and try to become a master at it before even signing up. Is that how they signed up for Reddit and Discord? I doubt it.

No way these people were that closed-minded and stubborn when they were signing up for Reddit.

I think it was when it was edited to include specific links to Lemmy instances, instead of the join-lemmy.org website

I still see the comment on Spaduf's profile, but it shows as deleted in the post

it seems like copying Spaduf's comment to r/fediverse worked, but in r/technology it got deleted for me too

for me it seems like join-lemmy.org, lemm.ee, and even lemmy.world are safe but some of the others will get your comment deleted

I'm not sure what motivated their selection because lemmy.world is the biggest one so I thought that would be the banned one

actually I think it was mander.xyz for some reason? and it doesn't seem to happen in r/fediverse

no wait, something else is also doing it, midwest.social is also doing it, lemmy.world is clear, infosec.pub is clear, ttrpg.network is not allowed

no idea how Reddit or r/technology chose which instances to ban lol

https://www.the-express.com/news/politics/161200/barron-trump-meme-coin-melania

Traders lose millions on 'fake' Barron meme coin that has no link to Trump's son

A fake $BARRON meme coin inspired by Donald Trump's son but with no official link surged by 90% in a minute before completely losing its value.

I think the join-lemmy.org link was fine, it seemed to get deleted when you edited in links to specific lemmy instances?

This is the song with the blowing into the microphone sounds lol.

Interesting that Aleksi has parts 1, 3, and "Part 00" on his Bandcamp, but not part 2? I think part 2 might be my favorite lol.

His album "Project V" is also similar and very good https://aleksiperala.bandcamp.com/album/project-v

Once upon a time, in a galaxy not so far away (this one, in fact), a few internet rebels decided that they were tired of the corporate overlords controlling their online lives. Thus, the fediverse was born — an attempt to wrest control of microblogging services, such as Twitter and its ilk, away from centralized powers and into the hands of the people.

This was a fun one!

Isn't this what upvotes and downvotes are for? Do they only want posts about billionaire mega corporations? 10% is a really strict cutoff for people that make things as a hobby. What else am I gonna post when everything else is already posted instantly? I can't post to r/pcgaming for the same reason.

I'm not trying to sell anything, it's a free download, my videos aren't monetized, I don't accept donations. I'm an active commenter too even if I don't make many posts there. My posts get lots of upvotes with good ratios, and I space out my posts so they're not frequent at all.

Also the fact that they count it site-wide instead of sub-wide means if you create your own sub or use an appropriate niche sub, you're gonna screw up your own ratio.

SmashManiac originally ran the site but recently converted it into an open source project. Here's the announcement

You can view the new open source version of the site here

It's still early in the transition but I've converted it into a Jekyll build based on yaml data. Unfortunately I've been mostly working alone, we'd love some more contributors! If you know any of: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Jekyll, or Liquid templates then check out the Github and maybe submit some pull requests to help us out

We'd like to keep the project simple, but here's our issues list for ideas
