If you can't afford to support yourself where you live and don't want to move, get some housemates like everyone else.

It might impact their procreation rate.

Homes should def be part of the pension means test. You can't be sitting in a $3m house and expect to get the aged pension.

It's a good start, but falls short of what we need. Let's hope this is the beginning and not the end of gambling reform.

Biking in Melbourne is relatively good compared to many other cities. I hope this fuel crisis gets more people in the habit of riding more often.

Go vego! It's an easy way to stop killing sentient animals.

I did do it before I retired. But not as much. I knew that my employers allowed it, but I also knew it wasn't universal.

It doesn't bother me that someone might get help for caring for people. I'm just saying giving flexibility to parents and not to non-parents assumes only parents are helping people with that time.

I think you're fighting a straw man there. I'm saying people should be all allowed flexibility at work, and that parents should get special flexibility. As we can't judge if what someone does with their flexibility is good for society just based on if they're parents or not.

I give blood all the time and help out with my parents. But I'm retired so don't have to clear it with an employer.

People saying that kids are important to society so we should allow parents extra flexibility, it rests on the assumption that what non parents would be doing with that flexible is less important to society. What if I'm giving blood, or helping an elderly parent, or volunteering at a homeless shelter? It's hardly the employers role to judge pass judgement on what is a worthwhile use of time.

I'm in Melbourne. It's like $5 for a 2 hour fare. If you're going 100km in that 2hr it's a great deal. But if you're going 1 or 2km it's cheaper to drive.

Their generation caused climate change, now they're complaining about living with the consequences. No sympathy.

This is so stupid. How would they even enforce it? Are they going to check everyone's chromosomes at each meeting?

Lots of trans women pass, and lots of cis lesbians can look a bit manly, so I can't imagine any practical way to enforce it. And a rule without enforcement is pointless.

Tricky stuff. Talk to your family about this stuff before you/they die.

What a scumbag!

I have a nas with 2x10tb drives. I mostly just have music, movies and tv shows on it.

People talk about raid not being a backup, but is that relevant for non-original data? I mean I can always get the media again if need be. It would just be an inconvenience.

What would you do?
