Star Wars
("Honourable" mention: Star Trek fans. The blind nuTrek hate is something else.) Edit: The expected downvotes may as well be upvotes for purposes of this comment lol. See everyone? Case in point.

Never been to therapy myself but just saying good luck to you. Curious to see the responses here myself. Been in a seriously depressed state for the past six years, but in the last two months taken huge steps to get out of it.

Still dunno if I'll give therapy a shot, but there's been improvement on my own front which ain't nothin'.

That could be its own interesting question too; I imagine pragmatic case-use will differ with a significant portion of the userbase treating them as likes/dislikes.

Assuming you weren't commenting on it yourself.

Nothing specific but I imagine all the local shops like farmers-markets and thrift stores aren't terribly reliant on it. (Yet...)

You can't "fix" human behaviour you can only account for it and adjust.

Our attention will always go towards the moment rather than the constant. (Unless that constant is pain.)

Your favourite actor dies? That's momentous. You'll never see them in another production. You upvote it.

A doctor says something you've heard a hundred times over? You don't upvote it. You relegate it to the same place the other ninety-nine went to.

Ditto. Hush was good but The Body broke me and very few other episodes of any TV have come close to touching it. (Angel's Hole in the World got close.)

It also helps move your page to the top of searches. AKA, SEO or "Search Engine Optimization". Now, why it does that I have no clue, but Google algorithms decided it was important for insert reason... ???

The problem is what you're linking is something you personally disagree with, but that doesn't mean it's "bait" in the first place. (I probably should've avoided a political example as I think some are getting carried away with that, but it could be anything.)

Different example: I could link something about peanut butter though I hate peanut butter with all my heart and hope it ceases to exist. Yet you'd never call "peanut butter cookies recipe" engagement bait. (Well, probably never...)

The term or phrase has to encompass more than just political sides or something like it. It's the act of spreading something you personally don't want to spread. But what you're helping spread could be benign from most people's perspectives.

Copy the link of the recipe page you want and it'll remove all the useless SEO blather and give you, well, just the damn recipe.

No, I don't care if it's your grama's recipe from the 1800s and how it's changed your life and the life of your children and their children and your uncle and his uncle and your dog's groomers third cousin.

No, I don't care that you live in southern wherever and it's "that time of the year" for you to make something I make all the time and oh you need to show me pictures of your newly renovated kitchen while you're at it too?...

The Grand Apparatus from Brandon Sanderson's "Cosmere" springs to mind.

Light Cosmere spoiler ↓

spoilerThe Grand Apparatus is composed of a vast number of rooms all atop and around one another and constantly in motion. [ ] If a denizen needs or wants a room with a particular function such as a bedroom or bathroom, they can make a request to the Apparatus itself and the appropriate room will be brought to adjoin the one currently occupied. Because of the Apparatus' nature, access to sunlight is infrequent and is only accessed by requesting a room with windows which is moved to the structure's perimeter upon transferring. Personal possessions are kept in trunks which are moved along with each resident as they transfer from room to room. Because all rooms are shared, there is no concept of ownership of space.

Good sex can keep a relationship going for longer than it should, but it won't be indefinite no matter how orgasmic.

[–] Dalacos@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Definitely not exact, but sort of a variation. Hoping for something that hits it specific but for all I know there might not be a precise term for it yet. (Besides "outrage porn" but even that doesn't hit the nail on the head, just a descriptor.)

Like sharing a political post you disagree with to make a point, but because you're sharing it you're increasing its awareness and popularity.

Curious if there's a known term for it.

(Ex. Paradox of Tolerance. You can't be completely tolerant of everything because then you'd be tolerant of intolerance. Thus, a paradox.)

/agree, probably the closest answer to my mindset so far. (And I do love me some old school forums. RIP Portent and Waryammer.)

I sort by New (rather than Hot for instance), myself.

Just randomly curious what other people are sorting at default, and if there's a common answer.

Kinda wish I could automagically sort comments by New as well. /shrug

I have a lot of experience with games like this, so I'm not too worried about the combat end of things.

What I'm curious about, is for those who have played it multiple times, which character offers the "best likely story" if you were to play through once?

("Best" as defined by you.)

PS: A head's up for any persistent bugs I should be aware of that can really screw up a game would be appreciated as well.

cheers,

Bit late to the party, saw this recommended on my YT feed for a bit. Finally burned through em over the past couple days.

If you're looking for a laugh and familiar with the franchise, this'll poke fun at the tropes and then some.

Looking for recommendations of games you think translate well to a Let's Play.

Here's a few I've watched as some examples:

  • Dispatch
  • Dead Space: Remake
  • Dave the Diver
  • Outer Wilds
  • Claire Obscur: Expedition 33
  • Black Myth: Wukong

Some games I want to play for myself, but others I'd rather just watch. Either I don't want to buy it, or maybe the game mechanics don't interest me but the story does. (Dispatch falls under that category.)

Any other ideas?
