huh, how about that.

Yeah it can be frustrating. I can't remember the amount of times I had to call an utility company just because their bill was incorrect.

I suppose most people don't really double check these things, but if my bill is randomly 50% more, then you can expect me to ask for rectification.

Yeah, i did notice that some places when put on hold don't have waiting music.

But what I'm talking about is usually at the beginning of a call, where you just pressed some buttons to be put in the queue. Then you have music and didn't talk to anybody yet, so no option to ask for no music.

Ideally it would be put into law that for accessibility all these phone systems should offer the option to turn off the music at the beginning.

I was thinking to play a unarmed, beserking, big game hunting were-diggle next. With a side hobby as paranormal investigator to protect against magic.

I've heard about socks for obfuscation of vpn traffic, but never understood how to configure it. Is it possible to use socks with your own wireguard server, or with some free/cheap vpn?

Yeah it's strange. I like the style, but it's not like it looks crazy fancy or anything. And still I couldn't run it properly on my computer.

Apparently they made 1 other game called Clockwork Empires. Never tried it though, and from the looks of the steam reviews, it might not be worth it to try.

It was pretty fun. I don't remember having too many issues, but I suppose that's not the experience of everybody. (Especially since the studio ended up closing.)

Sad to hear. It was fun little game. I really liked the balance they struck between making things silly and still interesting to play. The game is also filled with references to other media and games. They also added a lot of quality of life things, like filtered crafting and autolooting, while not convieniencing away all the fun.

I bounced off from it when trying it on release. For some reason I had a lot of stuttering and it made the game feel nauseating, but I liked the gameplay. Not sure if that was a problem at release or my hardware has some issues. Other games seems to be ok, and my gpu is definitely not that bad.

When I was living in Europe, I was basically using anything but phone. Usually email worked or support via the website. Now in Australia, the support via website/email is very often not functional, so I'm forced to call people.

Can't say it's an enjoyable experience, but I suppose it's teaching me to try and do more via phone. I struggle a lot though.

The main theme somehow popped into my head recently and I retried the game.

This time, I tried an geologist with egyptian magic, fighting unarmed. (other favorites are the werediggle curse, Mathemagic and necronomiconomics. )
It's been a while since I last played and I don't think I ever got far.

I also discovered a bunch of new things which I've never seen on my playthroughs before (new updates, or maybe just bad luck in the past) Pocket dimensions and Secret wizard dimensions that can only be accessed by finding their names (and remembering them!)

Everything feels silly like drinking beer to restore mana, using an ingot press to make omelettes from diggle eggs, drinking from fountains with mystery liquids, vandalising statues of the dungeon lord to level up.

But at the same time it's very easy to adjust the game to suit your taste.
The difficulty level is adjustable, Permadeath is an option, plus there is an option for slower floors with the same amount of experience (to reduce grinding if you have less time to play) + Modding support.

Overall a great small title that I enjoyed playing again after so many years.

Yeah exactly.
Usually I try online support first, but in some situations you get a person that doesn't understand your question or doesn't forward you to somebody with the right knowledge and you still spend way too much time on it. Calling would be better in that case, but it's hard to know beforehand.

It also stresses me out that they have these chatboxes on websites, where (after trying to find the correct response to get a human) they will take 10-15 minutes to reply you, but then if you don't reply within 2 minutes, they assume you are no longer there and close the chat. Why even?

So obviously from time to time you have to call some service (especially in australia where so many digital systems seem to break often, so you have to call customer service)

But how to deal with waiting on the phone?
The wait is sometimes up to 30 minutes, and it will play this horrendous music.
If I turn the volume down, I will forget I was calling or won't notice quickly enough and the people will hang up before I can grab my phone.
If I keep the volume up, it's so distracting that I can't do anything else and I'm basically waiting for 30 minutes staring at my phone.

Anyone else that experiences this? How to deal with it?

I want to try asking more questions online since it has become so difficult to find things with search engines.

But I don't really know where to post my questions?
How do you decide what community to post to?

For example:
I have a question about meditation.
This looks pretty straightforward, I search for 'meditation' under all communities.
I find 2 communities called Meditation. (I can find more if I search on another lemmy instance, but they don't seem to show up on my current instance)
Both of them look rather inactive.

Do I just post to both of them? Is it possible to post to multiple communities simultaneously?
Should I look for other communities, what to search for?

Hi all, I recently did a 7-day hike and realised how expensive it is to buy freeze-dried food.
So i'm thinking to buy/acquire a dehydrator somehow.

Anybody have experience with what brands to look for, and what kind of food to try first?

I'm planning to use it for making food that we can prepare on a hike, preferably just by adding hot water. I also want to have some stored at home as 'emergency' meals for when we are too tired to cook!
