I think since everything is using slightly modularised software that integrates each other you end up being overwhelmed by so many names.
Like reddit is just reddit. But to use the lemmyverse you have βfediverseβ, βactivitypubβ, then βlemmyβ, βmbinβ, βpiefedβ, (Not to mention all the instances and frontends) etc etc
