Its gonna be a hate post, so buckle up and be calm :O.

Dont get me started on this sailing mechanic that plays like a game in 2005 in free website gaming, no one would play it in 2025....... And i rather just sail in sailing games where its way better then osrs.

The methods are so bad, other then Barracuda trail, and Barracuda trail is so boring after 4-5 times, and there were way more diffrent races in a 2004 sailing games. the box shipping is so weird, so clunky and not fun.... Clicking on the flag on inventory to sail a bit faster and get xp, honestly the most boring mechanic out there.

How do people think its good? I feel like its the same people who just vote yes for everything :(

Well finished my rage ;), what about good things about sailing? I guess content.....

I have a maxed ironman I've played since 2015, and my original account was made way back in 2004. I didn't play non-stop, but I was there for 2004-2010 for original RuneScape, and 2015-2022ish for OSRS. I say this to establish that I'm a longtime player that loves the game, and it's been a very special part of my life growing up.

Having said that, Sailing was the deal breaker for me. When it passed the polls I stopped playing and haven't been back since. I'm a bit sad at times, because I miss the old RuneScape, but that ship set sail (heh) years ago. IMO capitalism has destroyed the essence of what made RuneScape special, and the only way we will see that golden age return is if RuneScape goes open source.

yee, i 100% sure that alot of people just vote for the first poll option without looking, and im 100% sure if shamanish was 1st option on that poll, shamanish would won 100%. but nothing to argue about, its a private company anyways. they knew they had alot of ideas about sailing from 6 times it failed, its a reason why they repolled it 7 times, they wanted it to win so they manipulated the polls as much as they could. putting it middle of pvm new content polls, and 1st option.

well i quit 1 year ago, played mostly gim, and it was fun to play with our group, we got 2 shadows and 2 tbows with 3 in our group. it was to grindy after that for not much gain and we alredy spend alot of time.

i really like wildy, even on an ironman ;). i was sso excited when i saw wilderness expension, but naah. we get varlamore thats delayed 1 year almost, it was alright i guess. bofa is the single thing that makes me not start a new ironman, and the balance is so horribol in this game. skill doesnt matter anymore, its basically pure pvm game, with chores to get skill to x level to unlock stuff xD. good way to bring skills popular is to gatekeep content behind it? instead of the skill haves some purpose in a resorces gamemode.................

well osrs just hire devs with minimal salary, since they need alot of people working on this shit engine, and honestly its a very shit engine, who uses java in 2025??? xD they had a perfect oppurtunity to make a new game, or osrs 2 with new engine that makes it easyer to add content and fix bugs and balance. but yee, keep it to java, and hire the outcast devs that for some reson learned a 2002 programming languge. like why woudl you work there? there are basically no one else that appricate java experince naymore as no one needs it.

well i love osrs how diversty it is. but now that its basically just get bofa and kill stuff for resorces and drops and ingore everything else. its just a combat game, that doesnt even compitete with other combat games

Even if it's super fun (I haven't tried it so I wouldn't know) it's not what I want from OSRS. I want my nostalgia, that's most of the reason I play, and changing the core list of skills while skills like smithing is still imbalanced as hell and fire making is about lighting logs makes no sense.

I unironically now wish there was an old school old school taken in like 2023 before things really started to get out of hand

And I realize I'm in the minority here. I've just stopped playing at this point

yep, i only play osrs (but quitted 1 year ago) for the variety, you dont wanan combat? tons other skills waiting for progression, dont wanna play? just go to star mining and get that dopamine!

but now they just fucos on combat mostly, and its just zzzzzzz, i rather just play some other combat games ngl

They nerfed skills when they released Zulrah and the other bosses. No need to fish if big snake drops fish

So now the only reason people fish is for quest requirements and 99

Imagining osrs not going down this path makes me sad. For as great as OSRS's last decade has been we could've seen a real golden age more alike to the social RuneScape of the 2000s

Looks like shit and I’m almost positive it was something that would be forced on us because they spent too much time on it to walk it back. Even going back to the original interest poll it was clearly the most refined concept

yep! and with 10 setence, how hard to explain sailing vs shamanism and taming? xD, it was so bad wrote concept, and even then, shamanish was 0.4% away from winning.....

sailing was also on the top, which makes people have easyer time to just chose the first option, and i know alot of people just vote the first thing they see....................

sailing should never won, but i guess polls are just manipulated as hell.

It looks and feels like old school to me. People keep saying it’s boring… but it isn’t even out yet? All that was released was an alpha test for the basic mechanics. It’s already a more fleshed out skill than many of the other skills.

It sounds like you just don’t like the game, which is fine. Why waste energy on something you don’t like?
