same thing for policy that antagonizes and oppresses trans people; "Guys, just think, this will affect cis woman!" often either means "This is yet another case of Republicans using gender as a means to control yet another aspect of womens lives and gender presentation" or "guys, actual woman might get hurt!"

Oh god, I've seen so much of this. I'm glad you mentioned it.
Simply being here is supposed to give you the same rights as anyone else, but here we are.
No one understands that once it gets to the point where people who were born and raised American by American parents start to get arrested without legal protections ... it will be too late to protest or fight against the authoritarian government.
America is sliding closer to the edge and right now people have an ass cheek over the ledge and think that they'll be able to save themselves if it goes any further.
Whenever i see these "angry townhall" videos from the US recently im just stuck thinking of the "They are not hurting the right people" meme. Im still not convinced these people have understood the root of the problem, they are only mad because they were individually affected somehow.
I can't remember where exactly I saw it, but one statement that's stuck with me since reading it is something like, "I don't know how to explain to you that you should care about other people."
There it is! Thank you.
"Title of a Huffpost article" wasn't even remotely where I thought I'd seen it, but this is definitely it!
