I have dozens of different photos of these fish and I'm still not sure about the difference between Stonefish and Scorpionfish. Taken near Grande Baie, Mauritius.

Nice pic, was there in December, awesome place. And agreed lol, I thought the stonefish is smaller but I'm not really sure where I learned that?
Mauritius is a great place to visit and to dive.
The description on Google says something like, one resembles a stone and one looks more like a fish. It didn't help much.
