I'm not sure how I feel about this one.

Personally I'm not going to buy it until some more updates are released and/or it shows significant potential. I can't shake the feeling that it is going to go the same way of something like KSP2, Payday 3 or Cities Skylines 2 where the sequel is too stripped back compared to the original and falls flat...

Edit: I love the first game so will hope for the best.

I like wreckfest. But i don't really see the point of wreckfest 2. I also don't really understand how they get so much slack for their new game. A lot of people said that they need to iron out "problems". Shouldn't they have ironed them out in the first game? Isn't that the point of the sequel. It's not a first time studio with a good idea that needs some funds to realise their ideas.

The current ea version lays a very solid foundation. Physics feel awesome and crashes are already way more dynamic. I'm personally really positive about this. Especially in contrast to AC Evo.

This.

Sequels for video games from AAA studios since about the advent of lootboxes (or even earlier when it comes to EA) have basically just tried to sell you the same game as the first one, but with all the fun bits removed to be sold to you as DLC. Now it's starting to happen with smaller ones, too.

Expecting sequels to start with the same level of content as it's predecessor which has had years of free and paid updates is unrealistic and is not going to happen.

You can keep on playing the previous game (even games like CSGO which have been replaced by its sequel can still be played on Steam) and you propably should if you're missing the content of a specific DLC. It's a sequel, but it's also a different game which may develop to be a totally different kind of game.

Whoa I picked up Wreckfest from the library a few weeks ago. I had never heard of it, but found it really fun.

I may have to check this out…

You should wait. Wreckfest started with pretty much nothing and they added everything over time. And they do the same with the second one.
