Itch.io's also cool. Devs get 100%

[–] mitram2@lemm.ee 11 points 11 months ago (1 children)

How does itch get money then?

[–] Sidyctism2@discuss.tchncs.de 19 points 11 months ago (1 children)

just looked it up, apparently the devs can set the percentage that goes to itch.io themselves.10% is the standard, but it can be lowered to 0.

but it can be lowered to 0.

oddly satisfying

Does it work on steam deck/ linux?

[–] TiredCoffee@lemmy.ca 1 points 11 months ago

I think it depends on the game. Sorry I'm not too sure!

I like the fact that the meme used a european grandma instead of the american rapper.

[–] atlas@sh.itjust.works 12 points 11 months ago (2 children)

i like that you called him american and not canadian

[–] MemmingenFan923@feddit.org 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Didn't know that he was from Canada. My bad.

[–] atlas@sh.itjust.works 1 points 11 months ago

Now if only they'd support Linux with their client.

[–] Habahnow@sh.itjust.works 7 points 11 months ago (2 children)

FYI, not exactlyu the same, but I've been using Heroic game launcher to play Linux. If you're like me, you probably thought only steam games or linux native games would work on Linux, but I've been playing Kotor 2 on Ubuntu with the heroic launcher, mods included.

Oh I know about Heroic, and Lutris as well, so I know I can play my GOG games on my SteamDeck, but their Galaxy client also has things like achievements, leaderboards and easy online play.

[–] Habahnow@sh.itjust.works 2 points 11 months ago

Totally understand, definitely something I would like as well.

whats does Lutris offer? I'm not very familiar with it.

[–] Monstrosity@lemm.ee 2 points 11 months ago

It also connects to major accounts, but it really excels at adding games that aren't part of the Gog, Steam or Epic catalogues, imo.

For random .exes or a game that was downloaded off the Net randomly. Lutris will automatically set up a Bottles container, install everything, & add it to the library.

They do support Heroic, though.

[–] madjo@feddit.nl 1 points 11 months ago

Or does Heroic support them? :)

[–] Rokin@lemm.ee 9 points 11 months ago

I love gog.com, but I still support Steam and Valve. They are probably the only corporation I still have faith in. In my opinion, they have been generous, consistent and willing to improve from the beginning, despite occasional hiccups.

[–] Cossty@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago

Wake me up when they have first party Linux app and something akin to Steam Family 2.0. It's so good, my brother just bought Space Marine 2 and Baldur's Gate 3 and I don't have to buy it again when I want to play it.

They do have DRM
