I have mixed sour cream with Marmite to make it spread more evenly over banana, and the taste is... not good. The salt overpowers all other components. It's even worse than plain Marmite banana, because you can actually taste the banana before Marmite diffuses over your tongue. The best combination was cream banana without Marmite, to no surprise.

Marmite cream oat cookie is a surprising discovery. The overpowering saltness of Marmite is balanced by the overpowering sweetness of the oat cookie, the same way salted caramel works. I don't think the cream is even necessary, you can rub Marmite on the cookie's hard surface much easier than on the soft banana.

I, for one, am glad someone is brave enough to try these things so that others don’t have to. Thank you for your sacrifice.

If you like Marmite, you'd probably dig Nutritional Yeast without the extra additives to make something similarly tasting.

W...w....why? This should be a crime.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

It's not a crime as long as you properly destroy the evidence, and I have left nothing for the trash bin, aside from the banana peel.

Have you tried the peel with Marmite?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 weeks ago

Banana peel is just not good. If it was a tangerine peel or even a lemon peel, then maybe.

“I have improved my Marmite banana recipe”

Wasn’t there a subreddit for sentences which have never been said before (and in some cases which should never be said)? Is there a fediverse community equivalent?

Dammit, are you really going to make me put marmite on a cookie now?

Like, I did the banana thing because it needed to be done. But this? Too far, sir; too far!

Nah, while I'm not going to get cookies just for this, I'm going to try it next time we get or make cookies.

Good luck! I just grabbed what was lying around, and it happened to be a cookie. Next time I'll probably fry peanuts with Marmite, but that recipe is already widely known, so it's kinda less exciting.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah, very true. And it's not bad at all. Maybe not great, but definitely an interesting and repeatable combo. Does okay with peanut butter too, on a sandwich, as long as you go super light on the marmite.

The....... the..... 😟

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 weeks ago

That sounds like a war crime.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 weeks ago

By removing the Marmite?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Fascinating stuff, I love exotic food combinations. Where did this idea come from?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 weeks ago

Well, you know, a jar of Marmite in your hand gives you those impulsive urges to smear, I mean, spread it on random food.
