Had a relative want to update their resume and because they're no longer studying they couldn't use Word to edit it, and Word Online just broke the formatting

They had better luck downloading LibreOffice (at my suggestion) and updating it that way.

I've been bit by that before, so for years now I only work in open formats so that I'm not at risk of being "locked out" from my own documents

A friend of mine wanted to update his resume. He sent me a PDF file because that's all he had. I used LibreOffice Draw to change the file and the result was very good IMHO. Something that would be impossible to do with Office.

Unfortunately, Draw has generally been horrible at editing PDFs for me; the immediate change of fonts making the doc entirely unusable...

I want Libre Office to take a shot at developing an email client. I bet they could make something that sucks less

Sucks less then what? I feel both Betterbird.eu and Evolution are pretty capable mail clients.

in the free world evolution rocks. people still stuck on windows have no recent versions of evolution available :(
