I think it’s more to do with the fact that groups of humans need someone as a punching bag, someone they can use as a scapegoat for society’s ills (whatever they think those are at the time).

I dont think being trans would have radicalized me nearly as much if not for the culture war bs against queer people. Good job, conservatives.
The real answer if you actually bother to ask right wingers is that they genuinely feel disgusted and repulsed at trans/NB people, and they're only acting on their emotions.
