Been looking to read something on this topic, thanks. It feels crazy watching everyone go about their day as if everything will return to normal again in 4 years.

That's one idea. We can start putting the slogan "America hates Traitorapist Trump" in public spaces. Walls, fences, sidewalks. Anywhere that people will see.

[On the other, your colleagues pooh-pooh you as pessimistic ]

I've seen people do that right here on Lemmy.

I can remember the golden era of America when we valued democracy and freedom. Before Trump came along and enshitified every single thing that he touched. We can all still remember the golden era before Trump. But pretty soon, there will be people who never experienced the golden era before Traitorapist Trump started using our Constitution to wipe his butt.

[The forms are all there, all untouched, all reassuring, the houses, the shops, the jobs, the mealtimes, the visits, the concerts, the cinema, the holidays.]

And this was only true until the day it was not. Until the Allied planes started bombing your city to rubble because you never acted against Fascism.

[But the spirit, which you never noticed because you made the lifelong mistake of identifying it with the forms, is changed. Now you live in a world of hate and fear,]

Why does this sound so much like America in 2025?

[You have accepted things you would not have accepted five years ago, a year ago, things that your father, even in Germany, could not have imagined.]

Like routinely telling obvious blatant lies and nobody cares? Like illegally firing all the government watchdogs with no protests at all? Like openly sided against Free World countries and in favor of ruthless dictatorships? Like illegally shutting down government agencies established by congress without the approval of congress? Why does this sound so much like America in 2025?

[ You assumed that there were lists of those who would be ‘dealt with’ later, after the victory.]

There was no Nazi victory. And Traitorapist Trump is not going to make America great. Because he's obviously doing the exact opposite. Taking a great country and turning it into utter shit. Trump's Fascist movement is going to end someday. But we don't know how or when yet. What we do know is that the longer we take to end Trump's unAmerican Fascist movement the greater the price we will all personally pay. We need to actively resist in ways that get public notice and creates a bandwagon effect. We know that Trump DOES back down, at least initially, when confronted with greater than expected resistance.
