With how much vitriol this game has been receiving whenever it’s mentioned I’d assumed it was already out and people had played it to completion to be able to espouse such views.

"This version does not represent the final state of the game" Ubisoft insists as if devs will miraculously fix everything players discover in a single month. Sometimes it takes me a month to get my coworkers to give my merge requests a first look.
Could be a much older dev version too.
And they are physical copies as well.
What are they going to do, overwrite the disks again?
Does that mean the physical copies of this game actually have the full, playable game on them and it doesn't need some bullshit zero day patch to actually get up and running? That's actually amazing. That shit doesn't happen anymore.
It's apparently pretty rough and "doesn't represent final game quality", so get ready for the day one patch to fix exactly none of the issues in this build, and instead just ram a bunch of pointless funbucks in there instead.

Stolen physical copies. Supposedly they postponed the game release last moment so it already got distributed and things started getting funny.
Which presumably means whatever last minute critical bug they discovered is not fixed in those physical copies and likely some others aren't fixed either.
It's gonna get the typical AAA treatment. 100GB day one patch
But not for leaked copies before official release.

I was under the impression physical copies of games were actually just licenses to download and play the real thing. It's pretty cool to know that consoles can still play (some?) games, in case of cataclysm.
I'm not sure I've had a single console game where that's the case. Everything has multiple GBs to install from disc.
Closest is the Spyro Trilogy that only had the first of the games on the disc. But what else do you expect from Activision...
Mental copies were leaked later.
Who liquefies all those things that leak in recent years anyway?
With all the money they have you’d think Ubisoft would rebuild this franchise from the ground up. New engine, new everything. I played mirage and it has the same buggy issues that the series has had since the start.
