See how it’s working?

Nobody mentions Peter Thiel and his boy JD Vance. They can do their stuff in peace while the two buffoons distract everyone

Why are all political cartoons so damn ugly? Is it a competition between the cartoonists to draw worse and worse?

It's kind of the tradition. Look back forever and most are like this.

One thing I've been noticing is that lately they been getting dumber.

For example this one doesn't need any of the "dialogs" nor Elon's name tag to convey the message

I once went to an exhibition of Hogarth's satirical cartoons, I feel like the modern ones have managed to miss anyuthing about the style that made them good

It's intentional. Most political cartoons exaggerate the people they are portraying.

Caricature is one thing, this is somethign else!

[–] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

No it's not, these are caricatures the same as ever.

Well yes, but they're really fuck ugly awful caricatures

I feel like this would be a fantastic fun niche deep dive. I wish cracked.com was still what it was, perfect for them. Or maybe as a video essay on some video platform for content creators.

I have mixed feelings about these kind of memes. It creates a fall guy who's immune to falling damage. Anything the cons don't like they can pin on the other nepo baby.
