At this point I'm starting to wonder if they want violence so they can initiate martial law. This is not just abnormal, but an extremely aggressive approach.

As commenter below pointed out it was in 2025. They expect some resistance but when they control 3 branches, and have telegraphed pain for businesses who don't comply, and most news and information is consumed from for profits that can't exist if they don't bend the knee...well they've got cha.

There will be violence, sure, they'd be all to happy to use it but it's not something they're worried about. Once some loyal heads start purging the FBI and CIA, then we'll get into proper Stasi land.

From last Sunday on, no citizen has any rights guaranteed anymore, and laws no longer apply unless they're taken by force. Any crime against a person or business can just be waived or bought off.

Welcome to the authoritarian technogarchy.

I'm looking forward to the purges. Sure, let's piss off the people whose full time jobs it is to overthrow governments and then give them all the unpaid time off together that they could ask for. Certainly nothing incredibly funny will come of doing that.

Someone has not read project 2025 huh?

[–] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 22 points 11 months ago (2 children)

I skimmed it. Got angry, and stopped reading bcz i wa incredulous that we'd be so stupid as to elect someone promising to enact it.

Haha yeah. Sound about right. I've been back and forth into it and have to take breaks. Living in actual cognitive dissonance is so fucking anxiety inducing.

He repeatedly said that he had no idea what it was during the campaign.

Edit: just repeating what he said, I don't believe anything that comes out his mouth

Yeah, it's always been like that. He takes 2 sides on every issue so he can wink to the Nazis while also appeasing the 'moderate' Republicans that only care about low taxes (and they don't actually care when Trump ends up doing the crazy thing anyway, all they care about is being able to say 'i didn't know he was going to do that!').

Not good enough. There are lives on the line, ffs, you don't run for President on that shit. Especially since he didn't even make it clear it was considered to most of the voters.

This sounds typical Musk, from some interviews and accounts through the years.

He doesn't care about rules, norms, procedures or even laws. He cares about results, and demands anyone working with him to do the same. No idea is too outrageous if it has a chance of getting him what he wants.

Edit: relevant anecdote about moving twitter servers with U-Haul...

Fight and resist every step of the way ... never give an inch or a second of space for these idiots.

NOAA? DOGE is somehow even more pathetic than I thought to bully such an organization.

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 38 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Trump said during his campaign that he wanted to get rid of NOAA.

[–] Natanael@slrpnk.net 32 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Remember the hurricane predictions and the sharpie? Yes he's petty enough for that

Adam Connover covered this in "The G Word", there's a lot of private interests that hate that NOAA just provides this stuff to the public free of charge, and are desperate to paywall it.
