Mostly because of all the fucking Tankies and both-sides-bad centrists they promote and enable.

Corporate mostly doesn't give a fuck (well lately they do but I never had Elon Musk or Zuckerberg break into every other comment section and start flaming nonprofit childrens hospitals and puppies), but the CCP troll farms and bot networks have an agenda.

I feel like the tankie "both sides" is notably a different claim than a centrist "both sides" but I suppose you're right that one can give cover to the other.

Tankies shit on people whilst simultaneously calling it deprogramming which is hilarious because you're doing the opposite, you're making people less likely to be sympathetic by being hostile

I sometimes wonder if it's somehow a convoluted western reverse-psyop to turn people against radical ideologies by introducing them to bad actors and pissing them off.

Then I remember how extremely effective their propaganda has been for them so far and dismiss that thought.

The fediverse mostly has two types of people: people who don't want to be part of surveillance capitalism, and those who got banned on centralized social media for bad behavior. Unsurprisingly, the second group causes the same problems here as they did on centralized platforms.

As long as you never say anything even remotely political or controversial, you are fine.

But that comes at a cost of self expression. Conform or be cast out (blocked).
