Kinda sucks for the truckers, but it seems like the solution is that in order to cover their asses, they should just have a no use policy. I've heard that there was a company that refused to hire cigarette smokers for insurance costs. If they can get away with that kind of shit. I don't see why the trucking companies wouldn't adopt a similar policy.
As long as we don't have self driving trucks, you need people for the job
And the difficulty of that last mile of driving and maneuvering in the lot to the dock means we will have drivers for a lot longer than some expect. No AI is going to get that my dock plate doesn’t like to swing up properly when the plate is below 30F right now but every driver here gets it.

I work with a bunch of truckers. They aren’t getting high on cannabis if they aren’t sober. It’s always stimulants.
This is crazy, been a trucker for 5 years in EU. Ive been smoking for a long time. Just renewed my license and found a new employer. No one ever asked what I do in my free time or asked if I use drugs. You have to supply some urine for the license renewel, but thats only to check if you have diabetes.
