Just wanted to rant a bit as I'm having seeing that happening a bit more and more recently, not only on lemmy.world but also on Lemmy as a whole.

Makes it hard to keep you head cool sometimes, I think it's even harder because I legitimately cannot understand what they are trying to do by being disrespectful.

I guess that comes with being a very niche platform for a very niche population.

Have a good one, everyone.

That’s every aspect of life homie. Bad people are everywhere.

I know, I know, but some reasons we seem to get the very bad people, not the average bad ones

Hi there, same issue. It has been getting a lot more lately. Most likely happens in waves until a new „cool kids“ server gets defederated or whatever. We recently had a japanese schoolkids troll attack which made waves. Mostly kids trying to gain clout or something.

Have a good one.

Got one of those yesterday. Even if the likely reason why they were being disrespectful was soapboxing, banning people always leaves me with a sour taste in the mouth.

I think that those are growing pains, really. People have been leaving Twitter and specially Reddit for Lemmy, and that's great, but for some it takes some time to adapt, and some are outright undesirable. It's that sort of thing that we moderators (and the admins, too!) will need to deal with, but it takes time to weed this sort of behaviour out.

Have a good one you too, OP!
