.9 troy ounce silver coin attached

It's a quarter.

[–] tiredofsametab@fedia.io 23 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Ending in 1964 (IIRC) some US coins contained small amounts of silver.

[–] Carrolade@lemmy.world 21 points 1 year ago (2 children)

A troy ounce is much heavier than a standard ounce. A standard US quarter weighs 0.182 troy ounces.

[–] tiredofsametab@fedia.io 9 points 1 year ago

yep! I was ignoring the weight part; I just think a lot of people didn't know US coinage used to contain some silver.

[–] strawberry@kbin.earth 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

is it? Internet says it's only ~10% more

1 Avoirdupois Ounce (oz) = 28.3 grams 1 Troy Ounce (Troy oz) = 31.1 grams A troy ounce weighs about 10% more compared to an ounce, which makes a big difference when it comes to precious metals. 1 Troy ounce = 1.097 ounce

[–] Carrolade@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Yeah, I guess I underestimated the weight of a standard ounce. A little heavier then.

Damn now the whole thing is invalid.

This is why we need to pay teachers more and drastically improve public school.

I don't want your dried bloody fingerprint.

[–] DarkThoughts@fedia.io 20 points 1 year ago

If that was real blood it would likely be brown at that point. Looks generally a bit weird though.

[–] the_toast_is_gone@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago

On second glance, I'm not sure it's blood, otherwise it would be more brown-ish. (Unless that's a very fresh print.) It's more likely to be red ink that they got off an ink sponge or something. At least, that's what I hope it is...

the real crime here is that the date was wrong

[–] Aedis@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

What bothers me most about the date is the Facebook post is from Apr. 21st 2022, but the document says 2024. How is this sovcit time travelling ?

[–] Googlyman64@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

it says notarized in 2021, and expires in 2024

[–] Aedis@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Derp. My bad.

Are these all the same morons from flat earth, moon landing hoax, Trump would be a great President, 5g cancer or mind control or whatever it is, and jet fuel conspiracy memes? There can't be this many stupid people. It has to just be the same stupid people falling for everything every time, right?

[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 20 points 1 year ago

They're all one and the same.

[–] Carrolade@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago (1 children)

There's often something of a progression to it, with many branching and re-connecting paths. I think sovcit winds up as the final form for some of them though, which few have the ... talents to truly attain.

Most get off somewhere between vaccines cause autism and Jews run the world.

"evidently"

Where's the evidence?

[–] dbx12@programming.dev 15 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Almost blurred all names. And what's up with the © behind her name?

[–] superkret@feddit.org 17 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It prevents the recipient from forwarding the letter to anyone without the sender's consent (e.g. to a court as evidence) because that would violate copyright.

[–] dbx12@programming.dev 18 points 1 year ago

Why would I expect a sane reason? :D

[–] techwithjake@lemm.ee 8 points 1 year ago

Of course it'd be my former hometown that tries this shit. 🤦‍♂️

[–] pete_the_cat@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Shit, I live in Florida, I gotta try this! /s

[–] Olhonestjim@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

"Evidently" does not mean what they think it means.
