OMG I needed this tip. It's so frustrating when I type a string without quotes and then try to add them later.

Also works in vs code btw

Is there any way to add # at the begging of multiple lines at once?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

select them all, then ctrl+/

Because it was a webm, my browser just downloaded a file instead of showing me a video; mind using a more compatible and universal format next time?

versions that support (lower rectangle / higher number is more recent):

usage per version:

last major browser that didnt support which was safari updated to support it 4 years ago. update your browser

Using Boost on my phone. Just shows a big error message.

But considering it's a WebM... Ugh... Maybe I should find a better Lemmy app.

I think the most recent update that boost had was when it was updated to actually work with Lemmy. It's not actually very frequently updated anymore which is a shame.

Right... So I definitely have to find myself a new app. Any suggestions?

I used to use Boost too but switched to Voyager. Took some getting used to but I've found that it's pretty good!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

Well, writing from Voyager now. Pretty nice app. The media also loaded in correctly.

Thanks for the recommendation.

Using Firefox 134, still got a download and had to open it up in VLC to watch it. Which means the site you're uploading it to doesn't support inline streaming it.

what frontend are you using, default lemmy one or one of the alt frontends .world has? Default frontend should handle it fine but havent checked the alts

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Ah that might be why then. old.lemmy.world - but if I get a link to a raw MP4 file, firefox just opens and plays it, rather than downloading it. Tried on normal lemmy.world and it inlines the video just fine. Sorry!

@kitnaht

Which browser does not support webm? Internet Explorer?

I believe webm files are counting as a standard web file format nowadays

Yeah I didn’t get a download but the video played for 1 second then froze. Would prefer going back to GIF.
