Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Pulitzer-winning editorial cartoonist Ann Telnaes says Washington Post blocked her cartoon

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 28 points 3 months ago

She resigned over it:

That's integrity, a concept with which Tim Cook is unfamiliar.

Democracy dies. Forget the darkness part. They’re not even playing now.

[–] Rapidcreek@lemmy.world 18 points 3 months ago

I like the Mouse (Disney who owns ABC) is already in full supplicant mode. Chef's kiss.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 3 months ago

Who's the person holding lipstick?

[–] NateNate60@lemmy.world 47 points 3 months ago (2 children)

So it seems everyone's rushing to bribe the new president

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 29 points 3 months ago (2 children)

I have no doubt they were told that they needed to contribute 1 million dollars or bad things would happen. It'll come out eventually.

[–] frunch@lemmy.world 12 points 3 months ago

Not only will it be revealed but it will become standard operating procedure moving forward

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

It’ll come out eventually.

Probably long after it's way too late to do anything about it. Kind of like Woodward's book about donvict's first admin.

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Hell, if t came out today, what would we do?

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago

Fair point. I think even if the unredacted Mueller Report were to have evidence of donvict raping babies and murdering puppies, I doubt much would be done.

[–] CitizenKong@lemmy.world 18 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Well, the vice president, they're not bribing Musk (that we know of).

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Donvict is more like the first lady.

So, donating to presidents for their inauguration is not new, what is new is these oligarchs in particular did not seem to donate to Biden in 2020. If you’re being generous you might argue that’s because of the pandemic making the 2020 inauguration less of an event, but still plenty of other people donated.

Here’s a full list of individual donors (not the corporations) who donated in 2020: https://web.archive.org/web/20210111213617/https://bideninaugural.org/brqrthk6dhdn94xx/

Conspicuously absent is Tim Cook, among others. Also, god bless archive.org cause the Biden team deleted the inauguration page.

How many of these same companies/individuals were/are doing lots of woke-washing campaigns?

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 27 points 3 months ago (1 children)

God we need a Linux phone ecosystem badly.

First they treat the workers poorly, they support Israel and now this 🤦‍♀️

[–] NateNate60@lemmy.world 17 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Technically, most smartphones in the world already run Linux because Android uses the Linux kernel

(I know that's not really what you mean, I'm just being cheeky here)

[–] zephorah@lemm.ee 2 points 3 months ago

This was a years long failed promise that died completely a couple years ago.

[–] barnaclebutt@lemmy.world 20 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

Way to go Tim Apple. Also, that's your name for now on. Because, you know, the bribery that is somehow legal.

[–] nul9o9@lemmy.world 18 points 3 months ago

Remember when peanut farms were a big deal?

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 17 points 3 months ago

Sycophants.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 15 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Torvalds does not kiss the ring.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 9 points 3 months ago

He would smoke Tim Cook and Donald Trump in a fight.

No more apple for me then.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 13 points 3 months ago

It’s time for postmarket os and graphene os.

Lol!! iPhones are the lifeblood of "holier than thou" Leftist TikTok influencers.

They will have no problem continuing their hold on the general public. It's an addiction.

[–] TechAnon@lemm.ee 9 points 3 months ago (1 children)

It's ok because everyone really needs a specific colored text message bubble. Apple will be fine.

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 months ago

It’s been so nice now that the EU forced them to support RCS.

[–] jaggedrobotpubes@lemmy.world 6 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Does trunp hand it over to president musk on inauguration day? What happens when he can't physically bow?

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago

Thiel will flag him for one of the first to be used for Yarvin's biodiesel.
