I've just discovered matrix (and xmpp) and I gotta say im loving this corner of the internet more with each passing day
I am having issues, after accepting the dm invite from the bot I have not received any messages from it, UPDATE after cleaning my client's cache it worked fine

Trying to signup with chat.blahaj.zone. It seems the registration token isn't valid. Does anyone know if there is a new token? Thanks!
I'll generate a new one. We put a limit on how many times they can be used so we don't get spam bot waves

Where are you finding the token? There are plenty left, but it's possible I haven't updated all of the locations.

I'm also trying to signup, and it sais "M_UNAUTHORIZED Invalid registration token". If i understand correctly I'm having the same issue here.

On the topic of Matrix, does anyone know of any good matrix homeservers with XMPP bridging enabled?
Is it still possible to register an acvount in chat.blahaj.zone ? When I try it's not an option in the server list :(
The default server reset itself when we updated cinny. You can still type in chat.blahaj.zone manually until we get it fixed!
I'm a little embarrassed but: how? The list of possible servers doesn't have a blank slot.
You just delete the text and type it in. But that being said, it should be fixed now

Basically! Though, with encrypted channel options
It functions in about the same way. It won't look exactly the same but it is as you said the best "decentralized" alternative to Discord. Besides initial setup, it shouldn't be hard to use.

The join button isn't working.
It looks like the matrix.to redirector is having some issues. You can bypass it by just searching for #gv-apply:chat.blahaj.zone within your client and joining that way

Same (using element.io). I’m in several other matrix rooms, but it seems like the JS or form action on the join button is harfed.

Verification system is very on the nose, in my opinion.
It's necessary because we had a transphobic troll target us for a while, who would create throw away accounts, join the channel and post all sorts of horrible shit where everyone could see it.
So we needed a system that means that accounts like that aren't exposed to our main community spaces until we're reasonably confident that they're legit.
It's the same reason we use an application on this lemmy instance.
