I always imagine being able to take something like a modern phone or laptop back in time to show people of this era, and just totally blow their mind

My grandparents had one of these. My 80 yo grandma typed up Christmas letters on that tiny little screen well into the 1990s.

Wish it was still around. Wonder if it could run doom.

Doom8088 could maybe be ported to Z80 CP/M. It already has text-mode support and runs in 64 KB.
