Sudden winter reminds me of winter in Dwarf Fortress, where rivers freeze suddenly and completely.
My poor adventurer, frozen solid as winter hit as she crossed a river.

Thanks. I think I have some history of art to read before I understand much of that, but I know where to start now :)
I've been reading things, but my brain still doesn't really grok it.
But the art is pretty, and maybe I'll learn through osmosis!
Going to the website and binging the comic helps to make some sense. And there is textual description under the images, highlighting stuff you may not notice.
