Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has threatened to pull funding from a children's hospital after a doctor went viral for telling patients they are not legally required to disclose their citizenship status.

Dr. Tony Pastor, an adult congenital cardiologist at Texas Children's Hospital and assistant professor at Baylor College of Medicine, posted a video on TikTok, responding to Abbott's executive orderrequiring Texas public hospitals that accept Medicaid or Children's Health Insurance Plan to report on health care for undocumented immigrants. The order was implemented Nov. 1.

Take money away from a children's hospital? I don't know if that would go over well

They hate immigrants more than they like children.

[–] Irremarkable@fedia.io 20 points 1 year ago (1 children)

To be entirely fair that's a ridiculously low bar to clear considering they hate children.

I really don't want to be a judgemental prick but even if you didn't know the context of this photo... Look at those absolute ghoulish looking humans. Holy shit.

[–] SaltySalamander@fedia.io 4 points 1 year ago

Yea, those kids are terrifying.

[–] Naich@lemmings.world 41 points 1 year ago

Sounds like the sort of thing the Trumpets would love.

[–] Noodle07@lemmy.world 23 points 1 year ago

They wouldn't be sick in the first place if they were good Christians

They hate kids once they are born.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

They hate them before they're born too. Have you ever heard about them calling for any sort of free prenatal care? Let alone free or even affordable healthcare for pregnant women? If your fetus dies but it could have been saved if you had the money, fuck you, lady. God's will.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 17 points 1 year ago (1 children)

All they have to say is something like the doctors are forcing the kids to become transgender and the Trump fans will all scream about how it must be shut down.

Don't forget how the medical staff molests kids under anesthesia. The MAGATs love their paedo hunts.

Get used to hearing the "pull funding" threat, it's how they're going to start chipping away at minority rights (LGBTQ+, women, Latino, Black, etc).

Have your three branches of government pass an act tying a state-decision to federal funding ala the National Minimum Drinking Age Act of 1984, and we're going to see state's comply.

You’re very right but there are a few blue states like California that could be tell the feds to fuck right off. Granted that’s the start of a civil war but we’re kinda already on that path one way or another

Is the right to state facts not a thing anymore? I thought speech was in the Constitution or something.

[–] Jesusaurus@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Doesn't mean people can't react to what you say... In this case, in a politically-motivated nonsensical way.

[–] WingedObsidian@sh.itjust.works 19 points 1 year ago

That type of doctor is highly highly specialized among medicine. I’m sure other places would love to have him and his experience. Unfortunately the kids there in Texas suffer as political ideology prevail there. We die as ignorance rules

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

Abbot is a limp chode

he should fuck off to someplace that doesn't have internet so we can forget about him.

Consequences: doctors leave Texas

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Didn’t they already find out when they ran out of obstetricians?
