MODERATORS

Already the most disliked man in America, Zuckerberg will show with his next era whether he believes in anything as much as he does power. Was his interest in jiu-jitsu mixed martial arts authentic or a way to ingratiate himself with the manosphere’s podcast hosts? We may know by the time he faces his first inquest. Perhaps he’ll return to the liberal roots of his former public image like founding a pro-immigration nonprofit, as he did a decade ago.

They'll follow the money. Cozy up to Democrats, change their public image, and keep influencing policy behind the scenes. Different party, same game.

[–] Tryenjer@lemmy.world 1 points 33 minutes ago* (last edited 30 minutes ago)

Exactly. The stupidity of the Republicans only serves to highlight how savage the unbridled capitalist system in the U.S.A has always been. Deep down, the Democrats support the same thing, but (being savvier) they know how to disguise it.

The goal of the blues is the same as that of the reds (to increase social inequality), though the latter are clearly more crude than the former. They only differ on cultural issues, in order to give the public the impression that they are vastly different.

Politics in America is theater, a WWE game, which is why the two-party system is referred to as the Uniparty.

I wish to quote here the inestimable Lt. Worf.

Die.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 4 points 6 hours ago

I'm assuming they'll start up with internal DEI book clubs? Maybe slap some rainbows on some things?

[–] WraithGear@lemmy.world 7 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago)

they already have a network set up in the dnc. we need to root out the batards in the dnc first before we talk about mission complete

[–] BaraCoded@literature.cafe 8 points 8 hours ago

Shrivel and die, hopefuly

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 5 points 8 hours ago

Fuck the tech bros and their eagerness to fuck all the people for fun and profit. I am buying a paper notebook and a pencil and some stamps. That's my internet motherfuckers. I don't even have to subscribe to anything and pay a monthly fee. ISP's, we see you and we are starting to look in your direction.

[–] Jaysyn@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago

They will go to prison, if we have the political will to make it happen.

[–] Burn_The_Right@lemmy.today 7 points 14 hours ago

We need to release Luigi and give him an army.

[–] Uranus_Hz@lemmy.zip 11 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

They will throw money at democrats. It’s imperative for us to keep tabs on which ones accept their money. And AIPAC’s money.

[–] Jubei_K_08@lemmy.world 12 points 18 hours ago

Same thing they do every day, Pinky, try to take over the world!

[–] Furbag@pawb.social 4 points 17 hours ago

My guess is that the extent of their token gestures will amount to little more than going back to pride flags in June and pronouns in their email signatures.

[–] NABDad@lemmy.world 7 points 20 hours ago

Fuck off and die, hopefully.

But, probably not.

[–] KulunkelBoom@lemmus.org 7 points 21 hours ago

They'll help trump in some way to stop democrats from taking control.

[–] Eternal192@anarchist.nexus 3 points 17 hours ago

What will they do??

The only thing they can and should do is fuck off!

I'm not down for murdering folks without due process. That being said, if one dispassionately measures the good done vs the harm caused, throwing every billionaire into the sea — even the "good ones" — the math suggests more good would be done then harm. Sometimes it's difficult to reconcile the morality of not murdering them.

We need a shitload of Luigis to take the moral hit, leaving the rest of us to be innocently outraged. I, for one, would be the first to write a sternly worded online comment.

They will cozy up to Democrats, and celebrate on stage with them when they take the Presidency.

In return for all of that "coziness" (i.e. donations), Democrats will continue their longstanding policy of not returning to pre-Reagan taxation for corporations and the wealthy (a 50-year tradition)

[–] pulsewidth@lemmy.world 62 points 1 day ago (2 children)

They'll cozy up to the Dems. It's not rocket science. All the corporations pay both parties to further their interests, due to the most idiotic ruling in history: citizens united, which effectively decided that legally in the US, money = speech.

Well make sure to remind everyone who Elon really is if he tries to pull that.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 6 points 1 day ago

We'll see what Vivian has to say about that...

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 17 points 1 day ago (19 children)

It's known as a plutocracy ... a political system based on money and wealth

As compared to a democracy ... a political system based on the will of the people.

America has always worked like the first and it's debated as to whether or not it ever was the second.

They’ll pretend they’re progressive again

[–] schipelblorp@sh.itjust.works 39 points 1 day ago

Dems have a fuckton more house clearing to do before billionaires need to worry about a fucking thing, but at least it will go faster now because a lot more Dems will need to vote against in order to prevent passage, instead of the one-off "take one for the team" carousel of status-quo enablers.

[–] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 19 points 1 day ago

I have a suggestion for them: they can go fuck themselves.

[–] EatMyPixelDust@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 1 day ago (6 children)

If Zuckerberg is so disliked, why do so many idiots still use Farcebook?

[–] FrogCat@piefed.social 2 points 9 hours ago

Because Facebook is designed to be addictive, I guess. Same reason why people smoke even though it's very unhealthy.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 5 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago)

I cut back heavily on it for years and then deleted my account during covid when I noticed FB pushing toxic agendas. I told everyone in my life to quit as well. I am the only one who is off of it and my life is better and I never missed it to begin with.

Hopefully the Democrats won't chicken out and regulate the fuck out of them. Break Google, Meta, X, all of them up. Tax the fuck out of them.
