OOXML is trash and should not have gained traction. The entire process was gamed without much obfuscation.

Quote straight from "Pirates of Silicon Valley"

Steve Jobs: We're better than you are! We have better stuff.

Bill Gates: You don't get it, Steve. That doesn't matter!

You can fight this by just using ODF at work and at home.

Getting people used to opening the documents (in whatever), puts them near par and makes it easier to transition.

Well, our IT department would not even let us choose which version of MS Office we want.

They force updated all pcs recently to the 365 garbage.

Ouch. My condolences.

The entire process of adopting OOXML was corrupted beyond any imagination.

People straight up being paid in cash to vote in favour of it.

Lies or very vague information about deadlines being sent.

Any issues brought up by experts being ignored simply by Microsoft representatives saying 'We do not agree'.

Someone else could probably easily keep this list going for a couple dozen more entries. I'm way too young to remember this well.

OOXML should be withdrawn as a standard.

Of course they did…
