Rules:

  1. The mods are fallible; if you've been banned or had a post/comment removed, please appeal.
  2. Off-topic posts will be removed. If you don't know what "Leopards ate my Face" is, try reading this post.
  3. If the reason your post meets Rule 1 isn't in the source, you must add a source in the post body (not the comments) to explain this. If the reason is in the source but is tedious to find (e.g. in a lengthy video), you must add an explanation for where it is.
  4. Posts should use high-quality sources (for a rough idea, check out this list), and posts should retain the title (if one exists) from works like news articles, videos, etc. You may (but need not) edit your post if the source changes the title. (If you're only using an excerpt from an article that's otherwise not about LAMF, you can use the quote in the title.) Other types of posts should have a title which accurately, relatively neutrally describes their contents.
  5. For accessibility reasons, an image of text must either have alt text or a transcription in the post body.
  6. Reposts within 1 year or the Top 100 of all time are subject to removal. Within moderator discretion, this doesn't just include reposts of the exact same media but also includes e.g. a secondary source telling basically the exact same story as another that was already posted.
  7. This is not exclusively a US politics community. You're encouraged to post stories about anyone from any place in the world at any point in history as long as you meet the other rules.

In a follow-up video, Louise said she doesn’t blame the Republican Party for the embarrassing incident. “[They] have loved me, and they have welcomed me with open arms.

She learned absolutely nothing

[–] HazardousBanjo@lemmy.world 62 points 2 days ago (2 children)

She's still supporting Trump and is claiming that if Trump knew about this then he'd take her side.

My god what incredible stupidity

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 37 points 1 day ago

If the füherer knew about the disrespect she's receiving…

[–] bedwyr@piefed.ca 11 points 1 day ago

It's likely not stupidity but for personal advancement, the party needs tokens to show they aren't racist, because they are, and it's long been true that a personality could make a good career uncle tomming for the party.

After decades of fighting for civil rights, there now people like that backward woman waiting to end up being shuffled to the back of the bus. Or seeing race-only toilets. Or having to use a Green Book just to go across the US. Or letting the fucking Kluxers march all over DC.

[–] Blackmist@feddit.uk 23 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Always worth a read whenever I see these stories.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Association_of_German_National_Jews

Despite the extreme nationalism of Naumann and his colleagues, the Nazi regime did not accept the Association of German National Jews as a legitimate intermediary. Following the passage of the Nuremberg Laws, the VnJ was declared illegal and dissolved on 18 November 1935. Naumann was arrested by the Gestapo the same day, and imprisoned at the Columbia concentration camp. He was released after a few weeks, and died of cancer in May 1939. Most other members and their families were murdered in the Holocaust.

[–] Zombiepirate@lemmy.world 220 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Why would the white supremacy party do that?!

[–] db2@lemmy.world 47 points 2 days ago (2 children)

White supremacists believe white people should be in charge of things. That doesn't mean that a white supremacist needs to be white themselves.

She's a white supremacist too.

[–] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 31 points 2 days ago (2 children)

So then why doesn't she accept her place?

[–] Signtist@bookwyr.me 25 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

Yeah, the argument that republicans who aren't white simply want white people to be in charge doesn't hold up, since they're always surprised when they aren't treated with the same respect white supremacists give to each other. Instead, they honestly think that if they treat white supremacists with respect, they'll be respected in return.

Even after all that's happened, they can't understand that nearly 50% of the US population simply hates anyone with an arbitrarily high amount of melanin in their skin; they do it for no reason, and will never stop or make exceptions for the "good ones." This also applies to misogynists and women.

Ignorance, in short. She thinks, among other similar things, that they'll let her alone if they think she's on their side. She's not quite understanding that people like that are damaged and don't (can't?) think of others different than themselves as anything but enemy regardless of what objective reality slaps them across the face with.

It's like some variation of Stockholm syndrome.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 10 points 2 days ago

white supremecist that are white, occasionally will allow token minority when its "CONVENIENT", this is something conservative minorities dont get.

[–] rayyy@piefed.social 7 points 1 day ago

Certainly racism might have something to do with it, but, as Mr Global observes , she was recording a nearly empty rally that may have been an embarrassment to him. Then again, there were several others doing the same thing so racism definitely tracks here.

Maybe start respecting yourself and not campaign for a party and candidates that hate your very guts for being black and a woman.

[–] A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago

another person thinking that being the "Good One" will confer upon them Honorary White status, when it all it does is make them a fool and get them used as a tool until their usefulness is overwith.

Black MAGA

An oxymoron is upset with the disrespect she's receiving?

I can't imagine being so delusional.

[–] crenquis@lemmy.today 6 points 1 day ago

I know a lesbian married couple - one white and one black - who are fervent MAGA supporters.
I just can't believe that they don't see what is coming for them down the road.

Tokens get spent.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 21 points 2 days ago (2 children)

What's wrong with those people? Why do they vote for their enemies, and then expect to be spared?

[–] Stormy@thelemmy.club 18 points 2 days ago

I've met women like this. It was delusion. They said they were influenced by the "wisdom" old people had in their church, and were rich Dallas suburb women. Drove jaguars. 2 of them worked probation/parole and liked telling their clients if Trump can be president as a felon you can do anything.

[–] SummaTyme@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago

In cases like this, when it doesnt make a lick of sense, most paths lead to religion.

In a follow-up video, Louise said she doesn’t blame the Republican Party for the embarrassing incident. “[They] have loved me, and they have welcomed me with open arms. But Ken Paxton’s campaign manager, that person is 100 percent responsible for the disrespect that I received this evening.”

I SAY "GOOD TSAR", YOU SAY "BAD BOYARS"!

GOOD TSAR

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah, it was hard to feel sorry for her after seeing the end of the video. For a minute I thought she was going to have an epiphany and realize "oh wait, I've been supporting the party of racists."

But nope, she justified it as just one bad apple.

[–] CileTheSane@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 day ago

one bad apple

You know what they say: one bad apple has no effect on the rest of the apples. Call it bad but leave with the apples as an example of how not to be.

Yes! Cognitive dissonance avoided! Good thinking, Louise!

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

You get it! People point to this sort of thing and call it cognitive dissonance. Nope. Dissonance is a painful mental state, this is the cope we're seeing.

It almost seems like she was pre-judged for some reason.

If only we had a term for that like.... prejudice or something?

[–] ilinamorato@lemmy.world 32 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Beforejudgment?

Prophylactic hatred?

Pre-judge-its?

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 20 points 2 days ago (4 children)

I like prophylactic hatred. I think I'll start using that phrase from now on

Ken Paxton is well known for the amount of respect he shows to minorities. She's probably just looking at the absolute value instead of the actual value.

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

Billionaires are technically a minority group

[–] RaoulDuke25@lemmy.dbzer0.com 29 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Because she didn't reply "yessa, masta." Why the fuck would a black woman be a Republican?? Fuck her. Let leopards eat her face.

Also, "Thelma Louise" is a really bad name choice if you want anyone to find you on any search engine ever.

When people show you who they truly are . . . don't blame the campaign manager.
