I follow the rule of waiting to post permanently free games on Friday, and I always miss it -- likely partially due to Fridays being busy.

The point of [Forever-Free Friday] is to highlight a free game that's worth talking about a little, if you don't have anything to say about the game then what's the point? Also you need to give it the tag (and remember to post it on Friday!) so that people know it's not just a normal time-limited giveaway.

Also microtransactions in an early-access game? Eew.

I was looking for a good skate game and I thought this might be a good.

....then I read the reviews. There seems to be some real mixed reviews of this game.

The reason I didn't download was because it's choc full of Microtransactions.

ReSkate takes out the mtx afaik. And makes it work in Linux.

As for the gameplay, it's slightly too arcade-y for my tastes.

In reskate you can tweak a lot of settings that you can't in the base game. Things like gravity and what not. I haven't tried it myself yet, but pretty sure you can make it more realistic that way. If not, someone will make a mod for it, if there isn't already. I didn't hate the gameplay, but by god i wished it was more "realistic", that's the thing i liked about the series. In THPS, you had to pull a 5million shitass combo to get the same dopamine that a clead treflip boardslide gave you in skate.

Thanks for the info, I didn't know you could do that with ReSkate. I will definitely play around with it later and see if I can get a feeling I like.

You do not need an EA account to play the ReSkate version. It does require you to have the official Skate game files, which you can also download without an EA account.

As far as i understand it, you can even play offline without steam. Your charakter is the just "unknown player" instead of steam name. Otherwise it runs throgh the steam Version.

it's even playable on linux with reskate https://github.com/Dingo-Shenanigans/ReSkate

(that's not possible by default)
