There’s a CFR that describes a standard in metric?

[–] danciestlobster@lemmy.zip 89 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Cfrs are one of the few things left trying to protect you from enshittification of food so I wouldn't shit on them too hard. Highly imperfect, but before they existed shit was REAL bad

I recall reading about a grocery store chain that got it's start by just advertising that they were selling "real food." Things were awful before food regulations.

[–] lengau@midwest.social 1 points 1 hour ago

That's like the opposite of a burger place I went to that advertised themselves as "cheaper than food".

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 1 points 14 minutes ago

the sauce must flow!

[–] Slashme@lemmy.world 4 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Yep, came here to say this too. Maybe it was an intentional error to drive engagement in the food science demographic :-D

"Oh yeah you got me...."

You can still make it, you just need to label it as low consistency. Section C) says:

...when the quality of the catsup falls below the standard, the label may bear the alternative statement, “Below Standard in Quality—Low Consistency.”

That's the cfr for catsup. What about ketchup?

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago

catsup is low quality ketchup, per condiment for federal regulations

[–] davidgro@lemmy.world 31 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That part puts it in perspective for me. I would in fact think of runny ketchup as low quality.

[–] crispbacon99@lemmy.zip 23 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah op nobody likes the ketchup diarrhea that first comes out the bottle and now you're trying to sell an entire bottle of it

[–] deHaga@feddit.uk 18 points 1 day ago

Ketchup pre cum

[–] theOneTrueSpoon@feddit.uk 2 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Is it soup for cats? Or soup made of cats?

[–] some_kind_of_guy@lemmy.world 1 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

It's soup that makes you blind for one day. One day blinding soup.

[–] theOneTrueSpoon@feddit.uk 1 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (1 children)

Oh, right. The one day blinding soup. The soup for blinding you for one day, the soup chosen especially to blind you for one day, one day blinding soup. That soup?

[–] some_kind_of_guy@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago

That very soup indeed

[–] Jankatarch@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I'm gonna make a csv parser that accepts LF (\n) line-endings instead of strict CRLF (\r\n)

RFC 4180 section 2

[–] Steve@startrek.website 2 points 1 day ago

Or put it in a proper container, not a tiny mouthed bottle.

[–] falidorn@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Oh yea. I’m definitely trusting a spring gate on a metal sled and a stop watch.
