I'll never forget when at a charity match, some fans shouted and swore at a player because apparently he scored the goal that knocked their team out last season or something. A charity match.
Yeah no thanks to adding alcohol to that mix.

Would be less of a problem if football fans behaved like other sports fans.
I think a lot of football fans are decent and peaceful, but some are rowdy, and adding alcohol to the mix might not be a great idea.
The problem is, as always, the very loud minority that cause most of the problems. And they are why we can never have nice things.
In a lot of the online discourse about this people seem to be missing the point alcohol isn't banned in stadiums, people can and do drink as much as they want already, you're just not allowed to drink within view of the pitch. If anything the current law is encouraging people to binge drink before the game and at half time. Problem drinkers will still be problem drinkers either way. The biggest scourge I've witnessed is the insane amount of people doing coke in the toilets. There needs to be more enforcement of that to prevent coked up meatheads rampaging around.
Glad to see him focusing on the big issues in society.
