do you know about the matrix chat group? it's in the sidebar of the lemmy instance.

what is fermi and why is it better than matrix, in your opinion? why would people join?

matrix is very unintuitive and require constant reconnects and i have this issue where the encryption breaks all the time even if i verify with my passcode. its just very unstable. plus its IP blocked at my college

IP blocked: can't be, this only depends on the server, i doubt they'll have IP-blocked every server.

the other issues ... well, depends. don't use encryption for very large chat rooms. i think the UI is intuitive, but depends on the client.

they are uing fortinet. why all scholar institutions do this. like fucking college everyone is at least 20 :skull: blocking websites to ADULTS is weird as fuck. if someone gets distracted its their fault. like we'r ebeing treated as litteral kids. what the fuck is this society.

welp, in college here there are people who are 16 and 17 (i joined with 17 in fact)

but is because of access to NSFW content and also to filter employees to accessing social networks. most of the time.

well in quebec people gets into college at 19 not 17. second why does this even matter. its fucking college. if you get distrcted, your fault for not passing. third how the fuck i excuse this if i live in dorms and they still censor shit. they cut the dorm only internet btw

welp, institutions are usually ableist so they implement mostly this for "discipline". however i see this comment a bit ableist too (i have adhd and sadly no strategies or medication and a lot of people live like that, not that i justify the usage of it, just trying to point that this comment is out of place)

i meant by distracting like gooning in class instead of actually be normal in a class setting because of th topic of internet website locking and NSFW websites. i also have adhd and get much distracted during clas time. but seriously if someone just goon and jerk it during class time 💀 and dont even put actual work or attention into a class to be at least present for the class. thats on them on top of being just being extremely low on social skills.

We did try, yes, but finding it (which we did just now) was difficult, they hid what it was based on and it required a few clicks.
