Welcome to Costco, I love you.

How did these people graduate high school? When I first heard about Chem trails, I was like "you mean the process of taking moist cold air running it through a hot jet engine and then dumping it back into cold air creates clouds?! Good thing I learned about clouds and the water cycle in the 3rd grade."

[–] weps@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

you mistook chemtrails for contrails

honest mistake, words are very similar

[–] NatakuNox@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Yup, few people know the full concycle. And even fewer people know the US is still riding the inertia from the grifting slave owners.

This only works when people are discouraged from voting. What do you expect to happen when the right wing people always vote and people like you discourage people from voting with fallacious "both sides" logic? It's almost as if you're part of a strategy being deployed by the right wing.

Eh, there's a problem with the "offer." Essentially, the entire political offer, the main parties, all are right-wing.

This is to say that it's a dying democracy as the representatives are less and less representative, since they represent a minority of conservatives and of aspiring rat race winners.

The figure about is not a cycle, it's a spiral, a death spiral. It ends with fascism causing major crises and bad times.

I understand your concerns, by all means, vote for the least evil party, but don't pretend that it's not evil.

The other side of the observation is that politicians consistently concede and compromise to go more right-wing and neoliberal. It's extremely rare to see some political figure go: "oh, yeah? You're going right? Then I'll go left!" No, they keep pandering more and more to the right-wing electorate, to the conservatives. As the masses are no longer represented, they don't vote.

The causes of this are multiple, so I won't get into them. I'd just say that you should understand that the austerity policies that are coming are desirable by all the right-wing, neolibs and far right. The far right just weaponizes austerity against the "bad minorities", that's the early fascist regime.

FFS you're facing fascism and you're writing paragraphs of bullshit equivocating about neo-liberal blah blah blah.

This isn't the time for that kind of thing. You need to oppose fascism with the means available. That means voting, boycotting, protesting, and organizing. If you're devoting all of your time towards intellectual masturbation over "neo-liberalism" (whatever that means) you you're not actually doing anything to oppose fascism.

People that throw around terms like "neo-liberal" are generally just internet narcissists trying really hard to sound like the smartest person in the room. Completely useless in opposing fascism and are likely carrying water for the fascists by writing long essays on how the political opposition to fascism are akshually fascists too.

I understand your concerns, by all means, vote for the least evil party, but don’t pretend that it’s not evil.

You need to stop pretending that's voting for the least worst party isn't what democracy really is. And all systems other than democracy have been worse. There is no perfect system that involves humans because humans aren't perfect. Best you can do is have a system that is capable of improving. But a system can't improve when your bullshit purity tests prevent you from engaging with that system.

What about car exhaust? Car exhaust needs to be investigated too! /s

[–] SpaceCowboy@lemmy.ca 4 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

There was mind altering substances coming out the exhaust of cars and airplanes in the past. They used to put lead in it, and the lead caused brain damage and made people violent.

[–] Tiresia@slrpnk.net 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Americans will commit suicide rather than go to socialism.

Best they can do is giving you more pills and gaslighting it’s your problem to have poor coping skills and there is nothing you can do to greater society.

[–] kingofras@lemmy.world 23 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I imagine calling a suicide hotline in a couple of years will just be operators cheering callers on with praise and encouragement.

[–] baldingpudenda@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago (2 children)

[–] griselbrandalf@reddthat.com 10 points 1 day ago

On a positive note, maybe it leads to less people flying...? Can't have those terrible chemicals (CO2 and H2O) get into our pristine atmosphere in a huge conspiracy to heat up the planet, hardboil our eggs, and turn us all sterile.

[–] ladicius@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago
